I’ve got to say that the food here is absolutely spot on and well priced the restaurant is beautiful although quite small, but the service is absolutely horrific, there didn’t seem to be anyone running the show there where waitresses just flapping around, it took 30 minutes for anyone to even take our order and when we ordered the food was coming out randomly and they where bringing us food we hadn’t ordered and not bringing us food we had ordered, in all we where there for over 2 and a half hours just having 2 courses… if they get their front of house in to order this place would be great.

Décor was nice, waitress had difficulty understanding me, didn’t know the menu at all. Meals were… Nice but lacking any real magic. Not sure why the high zomato rating. Entrée was minuscule to say the least and the dipping sauce was the same for the curry puffs as well as the spring rolls… Mains of panang curry and ribs. Curry seemed to be too creamy. Ribs were far too small a serve for the $ 30.50 price tag. Not sure why this place is so popular. Oh well… As I have said before, it’s just my opinion and not everyone else’s. B– WILLTRYAGAINONEDAY

3 stars for food, but service, geez! Quiet Monday lunch and we had to walk inside to order as we were sitting outside for so long. We had menus so they knew we were here. They would set tables, walk back around the cash register, anything but look over and come see us. Food was good, good quality chicken in the pad Thai, please don’t change that! Albeit next time I’ll need to order extra chicken as it was light on. Then again no service until we were ready to leave and had to wait, wait, wait and waive Nat down. We might go take-away next time.

We visited on Boxing Day as everything else was closed. They had a 10% surcharge which is perfectly reasonable. The décor was nice and comfortable and the staff were prompt and friendly. If a restaurant serves massamun beef then I’ll order it and I must say it was as good as I’ve eaten anywhere in the world, if not better. Really enjoyed the meal.

Dinner Saturday night. Table of 6. Sat down at 8, kicked out at 9.50 because they were closing! Another table were still eating and being told the restaurant was closing. As always food was very good but they just don’t get that a good restaurant is more than just the food. There needs to be good service and the opportunity to spend time relaxing and talking. It’s not good enough to get the food out quickly and then drop the bill on the table as soon as the last mouthful is swallowed. Third time. Probably won’t be back.

Smallish venue about 30 seats, most staff are Thai(set the mood). Easy menu with choice of authentic and westernised dishes. about 12 options. Generous servings, would go again

This is a unique little place in the heart of Subiaco. The food was delicious, prompt service an we were served very quickly! Bonus for when you’re hungry! Reasonably priced. The only complaint being it’s a bit tight and could do with being laid out a little better as people are squeezing past at times.

This place has great ambience and looks great. Unfortunately the food doesn’t quite match the décor. I had the duck which was very heavy handed with the sauce. Very sweet. The duck was dry. We had already eaten our mains before we even saw our entrée. My friends meal came out around 20minutes after mine. Watching someone eat isnt the greatest way to enjoy a meal together :(

My first impression of Six Senses was that it was a sexier version of my favourite Thai restaurant in Victoria Park, and just like that restaurant it was very busy. Walking in, me and my guests were greeted immediately. Even though the restaurant was full, the staff offered us to squeeze us onto one of the two small tables outside. With the weather being so nice that afternoon it was exactly what I was hoping for, so we gladly accepted. After quickly propping up one of the legs of the table which was a making the table wobble, we quickly skimmed through the menu already knowing what we were keen to order. I picked the vegetarian Stir Fried Pumpkin [$ 17.50](stir-fried pumpkin, snow peas, capsicum, mushroom, tofu, egg and coriander with Six Senses special sauce), whilst the girls picked their own Satay Stir Fry combinations [$ 17.50](one with chicken and rice and the other with beef and rice). As the dishes were ready they came out one at a time(though within a minute of each other), we tucked in immediately, and my golly-gosh it was better than I expected. To roughly quote our discussion whilst devouring out lunches, the satay was so good it was only second to one other satay the girls had enjoyed oversea, which to me says a lot. Each dish was cooked perfectly. The ingredients tasted fresh, packing lots of flavour and textures. Simply put, each of our meals were delicious! Having had such a good experience on the Thursday afternoon, when my friend and I were going to see a performance at the Subiaco Arts Centre I suggested we caught up over dinner first at Six Senses. Even though we had arrived quite early in the evening the restaurant was booked out. However, yet again, after being greeted immediately, we were offered to squeeze ourselves onto one of the little tables outside, and once again I happily accepted. Just as I had a couple days earlier, I came in knowing what I was after, the Assorted Stir Fried Vegetables with Oyster Sauce [$ 17.50]. My friend looked through the menu, but it wasn’t long before she came across the Pad Thai King Prawns [$ 29.50](stir-fried thin rice noodles in Six Senses special pad thai sauce served with char grilled king prawns). The food came out reasonably quickly, but as previously, each dish came out one at a time though still within a minute of each other. My friends eyes lite up when she saw her dish placed on the table, and I’m not surprised. It looked amazing. I told her to tuck in, and not long after my dish arrived in all its glory(which I think can be hard to accomplish with just vegetables) and I got to join in. Just as my lunch a couple days earlier each of our dishes tasted fresh, packing lots of flavour and textures. Simply put, each of our meals once again were delicious! This made me beyond happy, as two of my favourite qualities — quality and consistence — seemed to truly thrive here. With great food, a nice atmosphere, friendly service and good pricing I can’t help but love this(clearly not so hidden) gem in Subiaco. It’s definitely on my list of favourite go-to restaurants, and I’ve already highly recommended it to the few friends and family members I’ve seen and spoken to in the few hours since my second visit and stayed up late to write this review about it on my blog.

After my first visit to this place, I am impressed. From the time of booking until leaving the restaurant, the staff were outstandingly friendly and polite. The décor and lighting give it a cosy feel and the atmosphere is great. We sat at the back area where it was more quiet and secluded. Due to the smallish size of the place, I would say it could probably get quite noisy at peak times. The food was very nice. More sophistication in the presentation of food compared to your typical Thai restaurant. A great range of good on the menu — the satay chicken was amazing. BYO also. Would recommend.

Good food, to high standard in regards to quality and flavor but portions are small and staff not as friendly as you would expect in a restaurant in subi.

Terrible service. Cannot believe they could treat guests this way! I went here last Sunday night around 7:30. There were 4 of us and when we walked in were asked which of 4 tables we would like. We chose one in the back. About half way through eating our meals the waitresses came over to ask if we could move to the table in the front so that a walk in table of 15 could sit out the back. We were shocked, we were mid-mouthful. We politely said we would be all done in 10−15minutes. They didn’t budge and kept asking for us to move. We, still in shock, got up and moved. After taking our seat at our new table, the staff didn’t once come to apologise or thank us or even bring me a water glass and our meals had now gone cold. When it came to paying they said they would take off 5%. which equated to $ 5. Really? That’s all. I said that wasn’t good enough you should at least take off a meal. She said no because we’d eaten it. We had to laugh because we had ‘sort of’ eaten it, until we were interrupted half way through and it was cold. It wasn’t like we had said the meal was horrible and then eaten it. It was never about the money it was about the principle. I’ve never had this happen before and in hindsight I wish I’d never moved. I found the staff incredibly rude and will NEVER go back to this restaurant.

I booked a reso online for a Thursday night dinner for 4 of us and we must have booked the last table because as we walked in it was a full house. They had our table waiting and we were promptly sat. We’d been wanting to try this place for month and finally made it. The ambiance and décor both were great. .. impressive. It’s BYO so we brought some wine. .. as you do. We ordered the Prawn Cakes(pretty good, but I’d try something different next time) Betel Leaf(excellent) for entrée. For our mains, Warm Beef Salad(delicious), Spicy Crispy Basil w/Soft Shell Crab(not spicy, but delicious!), Duck Panang Curry(very good!), and a few servings of coconut rice. We all shared it all, the perfect amount of food, and everything was really good. Prepared, plated, and priced(it’s more expensive than a lot of Thai, but I’d go again because the food, ambiance was great) to a higher than average standard, for Thai food, with great fresh Thai flavours. Except the prawn cakes(just ok), I’d get everything again and look forward to my next visit.

Please visit my blog for the full blog post. Food and presentation — 3.5÷5 The food at Six Senses Thai Restaurant was nice but could be better considering the prices they are charging. The betel leaf was pretty tasty but I think they were a little heavy handed with the fish sauce. The Gang Phed Ped Yang was flavoursome but I’ve had better red duck curry and I would’ve liked a bit more sauce. The soft shell crab was nothing special but nothing to complain about either, although I have to say they did a good job with the frying. Many a times I’ve had fried food and it’s soaked through with oil because it hasn’t been fried properly, so kudos to the chef at Six Senses Thai Restaurant. What can I say about the basil noodle? I liked the pork belly(which was a little dry) and thought the noodles could be a little bit more dry(it was slightly gluggy) but it tasted good. The most disappointing dish of the night was dessert, I love mochi ice cream when it is done well, but this one wasn’t. The mochi wasn’t the right texture and the ice cream inside wasn’t very nice. Sad end to the evening in terms of food, luckily the company was amazing throughout. Service — 3.5÷5 The waitresses were friendly and they did come over and ask us a few times whether we were ready to order. Six Senses is one of the few Asian restaurants where the menu wasn’t filled with spelling and grammatical errors which was refreshing. Our food came out relatively quickly and there were no hiccups along the way. I would’ve given them a higher mark, had the waitress that took our dessert order not been so abrupt and pulled a face, maybe I’m being petty but hey. Atmosphere and décor — 4⁄5 I really liked the décor at Six Senses Thai Restaurant and there was certainly a buzz. It was comfortable and nice and intimate. However, I definitely took marks off for the bathroom which was out the back in the rear carpark and needed some work to make it acceptable. Value for money — 3.5÷5 Don’t get me wrong, the food was good and I didn’t mind paying the prices charged, but for a lot less I can get a much better meal at a casual dining Thai restaurant so I guess I’m paying for the décor. Very expensive. Wait that didn’t cut it, ridiculously, mind-bafflingly expensive. I ordered the fried barramundi($ 33) for takeaway and discovered that it had very little edible parts, the rest was just fried fish bones. It’s like putting unnecessary garbage on the dish, knowing that it won’t get eaten.

The food here is amazingly fresh and just deeeelish. I had my usual green curry with veggies and was not disappointed. Although a small restaurant, it wasn’t crowded for lunch. There are seats inside, outside, and an alfresco area. Wonderful!

Six Senses on Rokeby only opened a few months ago. Trying to make dinner reservations was hard, as they were booked out most nights. I hoped that was an indication of how great the food. This place did not let me know. The décor is inviting and modern. There is no airconditioning, which made this place uncomfortably hot. The staff were very apologetic and explained that airconditioning would be installed soon. The food was delicious. The serving size was on the small size for the price. The drinks were a litle on the expensive side. Be warned they do not have EFTPOS, which is frustrating to say the least, so stop at the ATM further up Rokeby Road before you arrive.
