Great food and good service. The half bottles of wine are a great way for a couple to sample more. We had the Rabbit Rilletttes which was confit heaven. The Beef Carpaccio was a little heavy on the anchovies, I would have prefered capers or truffle oil as to not overpower the beef. The Salmon and the Angus Sirloin were cooked perfectly. It was a meal to remember.

Walked past on a Saturday afternoon and seeing the décor we booked a table for that night. Well would rather have gone round the corner to McDonalds. Staff are snobby little brats, drink service was slow as hell. Food service was actually ok but what a disaster. Fries were half cooked — seriously how do you screw up fries? Prawns weren’t fresh and tasted like grilled sponge, fish was ok and meatball thing was plain awful. Won’t be back here. Don’t care what it costs if it’s good and service to match but when both are terrible…

So I can’t really say anything nice about this place. I was only there for less than an hour(that’s as long as I could stay) due to the rude/very pretentious and slow service. 2 work colleagues and I decided to try out bistro for a few drinks and nibbles after a very stressful staff meeting. When we walked into the venue, there was 2 girls at the front counter, they both looked us up and down, then turned around and continued talking. We were slightly taken aback… but thought«oh, maybe we seat ourselves» We made our way to a table and were about to sit down when one of the waitresses came up to us and asked what we were doing. We said we wanted a table for 3 for a few drinks. She directed us to a high table. We asked if we could sit at a regular table as one of my co-worker is in a wheelchair, to which she seemed a bit annoyed, and took us back to the table we had gone to sit down at originally. We had a look at the menu and asked the waitress if there was anything she could suggest, she stated«there’s the entrees, mains and some cheeses» … Wow thank you, that was very informative… We ordered the chips, olives and the prosciutto and bread, they took about 20 mins to come out. It was all tasty, but very small portions. We ordered 2 wines and a gin and tonic. The g&t and one wine came out after a few mins but mine still seemed to be in the vineyard somewhere cause it took a good 15 mins for it to come. The whole time we were seated we could feel the stares of not only the staff on us but other patrons as well. After 2 drinks we decided it was time to leave. When we went up to pay the bill, that was the only time we got a smile from the service staff. I don’t think I’ll be coming back in a hurry.

Ooo, where to start on this one. Rarely do I get so angrily revved up, but after the childish and downright offensive response to my review of Bistro Felix on UrbanSpoon(sorry Unilocal,I was getting around to putting one on here!) I had to share. So here’s the deal. Bistro Felix isn’t cheap. And for a higher-priced place there comes a certain level of expectation. Which, from a service perspective wasn’t met… in fact it was horrible. Painfully slow, I thought our dirty plates would get up and walk off on their own because they sat in front of us for so long. But despite that, the food was good. So… I will put my urbanspoon review here, and pop the managers response underneath. You can decide if I was unfairly harsh and deserved the response I got. PS., as a side-note, the definition of ‘curmudgeon’ is: noun. meaning a bad-tempered, difficult, cantankerous person /a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man. PPS. The share plate of pork was $ 65 and I can guarantee that they DID serve it because I ate it. Anyway, here we go(I really feel quite cranky about this BTW)… ____ My review(11 Mar 2013) We stuck it out here because we got a nice seat by the window — but we needed the view because the service was so painfully slow. It took 15 minutes to get hold of a menu, another 10 mins to get a drink and we were in the restaurant over an 45 mins before we saw any bread to nibble on. No good reason for it — they were half full(even thought they were ‘fully booked’ when we made our reservation… yeah right). The food was good — we got an entrée each(apparently they ‘ran out’ of frittes that accompanied my husbands mussels, but the next table got some 5 mins later), and my salmon was nice. We shared the pork plate and as good as it was there was far too much… there is only so much solid meat 2 people can eat without anything to break it up. Since we had been there for 3 hours and were only at mains we didn’t bother waiting for the dessert menu… and after our plates weren’t cleared 15 mins after finishing we walked up to the desk to pay… goodness knows how long it would have been to get the bill — we probably would still be sitting there! ____ Managers response(May 11) Unfortunately during the time that you dined in with us i don’t recall serving any salmon dishes nor pork belly as a sharing meal before. For you to state your complaint on urban spoon its seems very curmudgeon. To give us a bad name and review it seems to me we have had more good remarks on the food and service especially, rather than bad ones. Sincerely The restaurant manager

This review is dedicated to Moyra D I had cause to see how the posh people live it up and be a lady who lunches(for one day only). As such, with friend in tow, we headed to Bistro Felix in Subiaco. I picked this place due to the garish pink shop front. My friend is domestically blind on occasion, so he couldn’t possibly use the«I couldn’t find it» excuse this time. To our delight, they have a set course menu lunch. I think it’s $ 42 for two courses and definitely $ 47 for three courses, with a glass of house wine, a beer or a softie included. Although you could order from the a la carte menu, did somebody say«set price lunch»?? So I didn’t even look at it. The menu I did peruse and select from had the simple yet elegant selection of three entrees, three mains and two desserts to choose from. One vego, one meaty and one fishy. Perfect. To best encompass our passion for food, my friend and I each selected something different, meaning we chose the chicken terrine and salmon gravalax for our entrees, and the barramundi and scotch filet for our mains. As I hoped, the chef knows what he is doing at Bistro Felix and our meals came out not only beautifully presented, but well sized and cooked to perfection. Steak medium rare(more on the rarer side, just how we like it) and the fish moist on the inside with a dainty flaky consistency in the fat fillet and crispy skin adorned with a smattering of chunky sea salt. There was no pomp and ceremony with any waiter brandishing the largest pepper grinder you ever did see — there was none required. What IS it with businesses and pepper grinders? Are they a Freudian substitute hmmm??? Our desserts were one sweet(panacotta) and one savoury(cheese board and lavosh). The panacotta, well, guess which sweet monster ate that one? Yes, me. Perfect consistency, wobbly on the plate, resting in a sinfully delicious caramel syrup. The delicately arranged strawberry on top(it may have been soaked in something wicked) was just the right amount of tart to offset the sticky deliciousness of what lay beneath. The cheese board was just one variety, a salty yet creamy medium firmness cheese with a choice on the board of baguette and poppy seeded lavosh. Yum. The wine we both chose was the Sauvignon Blanc(the other choice being a Shiraz) and we both thought it was a decent drop(and a generous serve). Add to that the ambience of carpeted floors, linen tablecloths, fine cutlery, professional service and the relief of cool, cool airco on a very hot day and I’d say I could get used to the high life.

I really enjoyed the gorgonzola risotto dish here… it was one of the best risotto dishes I have ever had. I tried two desserts which were very tasty. I tried to look up what they were called but it seems the in-restaurant menu differs from what they have online. One had a baked pear with pop rocks on it… definitely innovative and SOFUN. I love pop rocks! The table service was absolutely wonderful and I was very impressed by the young man who waited our table. He did splendidly! Coming directly from a footy game, I was wearing tennis shoes and carrying a baby(she’s still little enough that she sleeps wherever we take her.) I felt a little bit under-dressed but when you put your restaurant on Rokeby, you can expect crowds coming from footy games. While this is a «fine dining establishment» it isn’t a five star restaurant. I was a little unhappy that when I stepped outside to walk around so my little one would fall asleep and the hostess acted like I had just walked in off the street when I came back in asking rudely if she could«help me.» I don’t have time for those sort of people… I didn’t say anything back to her, walked past her, and went to my table. I would have given this restaurant five stars if she hadn’t been so rude.

This is definitely one classy joint. The interior design and whole image of the place are top notch. When I entered it I was simply amazed. Every table is set up to what seems military precision. The bar is pretty cosy, the service is great(the waitress was probably the most professional waitress I had seen in WA so far) and the food was very good(although not the best). I was also impressed with their wine rack where they hold all kinds of exotic wines. Sure they are not a wine cellar but for a restaurant they are doing pretty well. Too bad my wallet was already screaming in pain. If you are looking for a nice, upscale place to take somebody, you could do much worse than this.

Bistro Felix is a little bit of Paris on the streets of Subiaco. The walls are adorned with vintage french posters and there is a massive wall display of wine bottles to one side. Bistro Felix has modern Australian, with european influences food. The menu seems to change with the mood of the chef. Fresh and local seasonal produce dominate the menu. The food is served bistro style. The service attentive and unobtrustive. The wine selection brilliant. For a private party they have a large private dining room out the back. The pork belly is delicious, but sadly off the menu for the moment. Hopefully it will reappear soon. For cheese enthusiasts like myself, they have an extensive and tasty range of French cheeses.

I stumbled across Bistro Felix when I was walking through Subiaco. They were playing one of my favorite bands, «Air» so I stopped in to take a look at their menu. Right away, their menu looked exciting. It offered pork belly with green lentils and apple purée, grass-fed beef fillet with your choice of sauce, salmon with herb risotto and seafood veloute and so much more. Each item on the menu included a special sauce like seeded mustard reduction or a delicious side like roasted baby beetroot with glazed turnips. The restaurant is French, but not in a stuffy or complex way. The atmosphere was very light and the hostess was incredibly friendly. I took a seat at 7pm in a nearly empty restaurant and decided to start with a glass of cabernet sauvignon followed by the pork belly and the beef fillet. The first thing that I noticed before the food even arrived, was that the service was wonderful. There was always a waiter taking care of my table, offering pieces of delicious bread and refilling my drink. The pork belly arrived first, and it was magnificent. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The green lentils and the apple purée were the perfect accent to the pork. When the beef fillet arrived, I was already satisfied after eating the pork belly, but was excited to try the main course. The fillet was perfectly prepared, just like I had asked, medium rare. It came with a buttery sauce and creamy potatoes, which were a wonderful compliment to the fillet. My entire meal was very enjoyable. My only regret was that I didn’t have room for dessert. While the price of the pork belly was $ 24 and the beef fillet was $ 39, I feel great about spending my money at Bistro Felix because every bite of my meal was superb and the whole atmosphere was incredible. If the price tag is too high for you, I would recommend ordering an appetizer, which is of a generous size or just coming in for a drink. In addition to having a large wine selection, they also have a fully stocked bar. By the time I finished my meal, every single table at Bistro Felix was taken(on a Tuesday night). If you haven’t tried this restaurant yet, hop on your local train and take it to Subiaco station. The restaurant is just a few minutes walk up Rokeby Road. You won’t be disappointed.

This is a snazzy little upmarket bistro in subi. Have you noticed there aren’t that many really nice or fancy dinner places in Perth? Something that doesn’t double as a wine bar, doesn’t close early, and isn’t a steakhouse, curry house or casual Italian? I recently had some friends visiting who had brought their mother, and after straining to think of somewhere a little more upmarket that serves dinner I eventually came upon Felix Bistro. I know the prices are pretty high, but I couldn’t really take a small town mammy to a hectic Northbridge or Leederville eatery or a spicy Indian. It struck the perfect balance. The menu is inventive and everything is so well matched with its accompaniments. I just went for mains as I had a big lunch. I’m not one to order a vegetarian dish usually, but I can never resist a good mushroom risotto, and good it was! Recommended if you want a fine dining experience.

A magenta exterior, pristine white tablecloths and stunning marble bar inside, this contemporary French bistro is ridiculously easy on the eyes. Modern gold lights zig-zag down the ceiling to create a candlelit, cosy sophistication and framed colorful vintage prints add a touch of merriment. The stylish mood is met with informed and sociable service. The waitress kept our wine glasses topped up and didn’t miss a beat when we tested her knowledge on the menu. Never before have I been perplexed by so many menu names; «seafood veloute», «beignet», «gravlax», «boulangère potato», «mélange»…I knew I was in for a deliciously educational experience. I was sold on the Salmon dish; served with creamed herb risotto, raddish, scallion, and seafood veloute; which I now know is a creamed seafood soup-like stock. The salmon steak was cooked to perfection. Also on the menu are two other seafood mains, as well as dishes revolving on duck, pork, beef, chicken and a mushroom risotto. Of the sides; choose the mushrooms and from dessert; the Paris Brest is a most decadent, too-pretty-too-eat dessert of choux pastry, berries and cream — save same room for this! It’s really hard to fault this place; food, ambience, service and wine list are all outstanding. There’s just one niggling thing I can’t put my finger on that’s missing… Until I figure out what that is, it’s 5 stars from me.
