A bit of late review. But better late than never! Always love coming back here when I’m in Subi. Caught up with a friend for lunch. Just bear in mind the place isn’t super big so it’s hard to fit groups of more than 4! And it’s usually packed on weekends. Great range of coffees to pick from. I always love looking at the different roasted beans they have and picking different ones each time I come. Next time I should try the flight of coffees! Really great coffee but expect Perth prices(which I’m sure we are all used to by now). I had the potato waffle with crumbed pork and Japanese curry. OMG I love Japanese pickles and there were plenty of them on my plate! Really enjoyed it. I would say this was on the heavier side of brunch. So bring your bellies along for a heartier meal if you order this.

I really love this place. Great food, beautiful coffee and lovely staff. Possibly the best flat white I have ever had because of the naturally sweet and strong roast they use in house. It is very busy for a reason, but the staff clearly care about good coffee(if you watch them make it you will see what I mean). The food is top notch — fresh, innovative and with really lovely high quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and helpful, and bonus points for trying to help me choose as I always get food envy! The waitress even tried to help me nab a good seat while waiting for my friend who was really late so I had to keep giving up my tables out of guilt. We ordered the tomato dish and beef croquettes with kim chi, both of which were brilliant. We also shared a coffee flight to share, and they ever so sweetly slipped in an extra espresso(there was one espresso included but three coffees total) which meant to germ sharing on the last coffee! Haha. They didn’t even mention they had done it for credit — they just did it to be nice! That does it. This place wins and is in my top 5 in Perth! And knowing how fussy I am, it is a big call.

Coffee was ok. It was rather tepid when I asked for it hot and the staff had a bit of a hipster attitude towards me. I liked the skulls at the counter but that was about it :(.

These guys are serious about their coffee. Single origin, cold drip etc. You name it, they have it! Their coffee was so enjoyable, I had two! For breakfast I had the scrambled eggs and they were perfectly cooked. I was very tempted by the red velvet pancakes though so will have to try them on my next visit.

I love this place! Been coming here since it opened. I only drink black coffee and they have a great range of non-milk coffee options. I particularity like the filter tasting flights as you get to try 3 different coffees. My favourite at the moment since it’s summer is the nitro cold brew, it’s lovely and refreshing, but you still get your caffeine hit.

If you enjoy black coffees, you might like this place. I particularly like their tasting flights, involving a range of expresso, and filter options. I really like coming here, and have been for almost 2 years. Great service, and friendly people.

Quite possibly one of the most instagrammed places in Perth, and being an architecture student myself, I couldn’t think of a better way to start my Unilocaling adventures. I’ll start by saying A&H did NOT disappoint! The hype is there for a reason and they certainly delivered. I ordered the avocado and egg on toast and it was delicious. Due to my surgery I can’t eat too much so it’s not every day you see me leave with an empty plate licking my fingers. The eggs were perfectly cooked just as advertised and the avocados were fresh and full of flavour. The salad was the perfect compliment too! If I had 1 gripe it’d be the wait, but the place was packed so I can forgive that. Will be bringing my gf back for 2nds!

This place serves serves some great coffees :) I love when I have a coffee somewhere and it really doesn’t need any sugar because it’s already perfect… They do good food for breakky too! I tried the avocado toast with 65 degree eggs and it comes with a noodle salad garnished with onions and mint…

This place does fantastic and varied coffee options, but I think it’s trendy attitude is more of a drawcard. I’ve never been disappointed with a cup of hot joe from this place, although the ice coffee with sparkling water was a bit flat… literally. I am, however, aching to try the black coffee with a dollop of chocolate in it… sugar and caffeine is a winner in my book. They have a small but innovative menu but there didn’t seem to be much for the lactose intolerant folks, like myself. Oh and don’t be confused if your cappuccino comes without choc on top, the serve it the traditional Italian way. Service is friendly and it’s a decent spot to come for a coffe and people watch.

Fantastic little place on Rokeby Road in Subi. Was pretty busy when we got there but managed to find a bench table to sit at. The place is quite small itself but I appreciate the large bench tables to give us plenty of room for our food and drinks. My friend and I shared the big breakfast which was a plate of sausages, eggs, bacon, shrooms, hash browns… All the good stuff. Then we also shared a brisket roll which as more like a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich… This thing was unreal! So delicious! Then we also had the watermelon and feta salad which is always a good choice if you see it on a menu. Really refreshing. I was really intrigued by the extensive range of international coffees. I can’t remember the name of the one I chose but I do know it was from Africa and it had a bite to it. Was interesting. As for the décor of the place, it was clean and crisp. Loved the comic book style mural on the wall. Will be back!

A place that offers a perfectly cooked full breakfast even at 2pm, this is definitely my thing! I loved how they were able to make everything just so perfectly crispy, especially the hash browns. The baked beans was a nice touch to a greasy meal, and the sourdough toast was made perfectly. My friend loved her avocado on toast too. The only downside is the limitation of the menu. Although the food tasted great, the menu itself appeared to be rather mediocre and meagre. I mean for a six page menu there’s only half a page on food… that’s not offering a lot of choices.

I don’t go to Subiaco often, but I’m glad I made the exception to the rule to visit this place! This place is humming on the weekend, with a three deep waiting line to get in. The line moves pretty quickly, but I wouldn’t go if you were a group bigger than 4, because boy is it a bit squishy! That could be the only downside — the tables pushed up against the wall and bar stools — not great for my pregnant friend. Don’t spend too long browsing the menu, you gotta race to the counter to order. The menu offers a variety of munching options suitable for everyone. The red velvet pancakes caught my eye and the BBQ ribs made my mouth water, however I ended up with a pulled pork toastie. Major thumbs up for the super cute coffee art of a swan on my skim flat white. That is a serious barista skill! The coffee is bang on — strong and creamy, service is friendly and attentive and the creative menu is a hit with everyone. I will be back — but maybe not on the weekend.

There always seems to be a weekend queues at Architects and Heroes. I guess that’s a great sign that they much have great food. We’ve wandered past a few times recently, and not bothered given the line waiting, but we persisted a couple of weeks ago and only had to wait 5 minutes to grab a couple of seats outside. We ordered coffee and breakfast, and soaked up the sun on the seating on the sidewalk. The coffees didn’t take too long to arrive(a good thing for me, as I need my caffeine hit), and checked out a few meals arriving for others. Unfortunately we had to wait for about 30 minutes to get our meal, which I get, the place is popular. It’s just not something I’m keen to do when I know there are a few other great cafes nearby that offer great meals and faster service. I’m sure we’ll go back again soon.

Perfect coffee & juice, super friendly service, yum toastie, and a cool fit out with seating in and out. Loved it! A bit weird, but I walked in starving and totally couldn’t decide between all the great and original menu items. They were all just a bit too breakfast-y looking to me(considering it was 11:30) so I settled for the pulled-pork toast, and wow, that was just great. Would whole meal or wheat toast been nicer than white? Who knows, maybe, but the pulled pork was just awesome. Simple but super tasty! I also had a great flat white and a perfect and refreshing watermelon-apple-orange juice, and finished off the whole shebang with a single origin macchiato. Yay!

It’s been open for a while, but this was my first visit to Architects and Heroes, post gym and huuuungreeee the other day. My first impressions of the staff were that they reminded me of a collection of the nerdy kids from school(slicked down hair, big glasses), plus one bearded rock star, producing high quality coffee and morsels from the kitchen. The food sure looks pretty enough to eat and my gosh, mine sure tasted great. I had the field mushrooms and bruscetta breakfast and I have to tell you, despite me being a decent size and ravenous following an extreme work out, I could not finish it. The other thing that had me at the wow-factor was the price. When I compare to other breakfast joints, the sheer quantity and quality, this place comes up trumps. Big time. I really liked my visit, enough to commit to being there again soon.

Even if you tried to give this place a bad rating, I bet you that you couldn’t! Well I wouldn’t actually bet you, but you get the idea! It was a hot hot morning when I cam here for breakfast, it took a lot of reshuffling during my visit to try and avoid my skin being burnt due to the lack of shade out the front. But this was a small thing that was just enough to slightly ruin my visit and give 4 instead of 5 stars. I’m sure when I come again with better seating arrangements I can easily bump up this joint to the 5 starts it deserves! Coffee, SO many ticks accross the board! Such great coffee that it demanded a second! And the food? Oh oh oh, so delicious! I had the eggs and toast with a side or mushrooms and avocado, my sister had poached eggs with a side of sausage and mushrooms. Cooked exceptionally well and it really lived up to the hype of the reviews I have read. Its a good location that is easily missed to look out for it! Although all you have to do is look along the street and find the masses of people wiating for a table. I was lucky and seated as soon as I got there, but this place got popular! And for good reason too. I’d be happy to come back here, happy to tell my friends about it too!

Great for Sunday breakfast! Actually lives up to the hype it’s received, so refreshing when that happens. Had a great coffee(and one for the road, cause it was so good) and breakfast. Service was the critical point here. Upon ordering the waitress apologized, saying it was a 15 min wait. Thank you for setting our expectations! Thankfully the coffee did not take that long. BF had the eggs and bacon, loved it and thought it was good value. I had the crumpets with caramel sauce, hazelnuts, strawberry and popping candy. Whilst I’m not sure the last ingredient worked, the homemade crumpet was brilliant.

I have yet to try the food at Architects however after hearing rave reviews from fellow Unilocalers I’ve popped by for a coffee or two! The place itself is a rather nice addition to Rokeby road, I love the décor and the comic wall mural behind the baristas is a great piece for the space! The service is also super friendly and prompt. Now for the main part of the review — COFFEE! It did live up to that amazing reputation, the consistency I would say is on the milky side but I did still enjoy my long mac :-)
