Patch Kitchen & Garden

I was expecting to find this place in the main street of Stirling but it’s actually more towards Aldgate. A bit of a pickle to find. It’s a lovely old house with an outdoor seating area for doggies.
The staff loved my pooch and were quite friendly. Indoors is fresh, airy, and modern.
Their juices are refreshing on a hot day. I ordered the chorizo bun too but there was too much bread for me. Should have gone with the salad. I thought their cakes were a bit lacking as well. The food was reasonably priced.
Great place to come for a relaxed light lunch or drink.

I could sit in this space forever and just absorb it. Design junkies will love the fit-​out, foodies will love the menu, service nazis will love the peeps who work there. We’ve kind of left the world of mothers groups, so tend to steer around that a bit, but it’s worth it to eat from the really thoughtful menu, and maybe leave with flowers from the shed up back that are every bit as special. Don’t know what’s going into the adjacent retail space now that Boo & Child is moving on, but sort of hope and also don’t hope (!) it’s as dangerously tempting as Boo was. Dinners are great here, especially for us Paleo types.

I absolutely loved the Patch! I rarely get to make it up to the hills for brekky but the Patch was certainly worth the 25 minute drive from my side of town (near Glenelg) …which isn’t really that long!
My two friends and I had ‘eggs with benefits’ — eggs to your liking with two bits of toasted sour dough and a selection of extras. I had poached eggs, with spinach, bacon and hollandaise.
When it came out, it was one of those dishes you look at and think «yes, this was the right choice. This was a good idea.» The eggs, perfect. The bacon, crispy. The spinach, the best I’ve ever had out and the hollandaise was homestyle and delcious unlike other brunch places around town. Sooo good!
The coffees were also delicious and perfect. I had 2.
You MUST book — the Patch is so popular that they are booked out for most weekend brunches. Walk ins may be turned away. They also advise no split bills, so bring cash if you can!
Oh and they have a cabinet of what looks like amazing pies, pasties and cakes and desserts. Definitely check it out!

A lovely stop between Stirling & Aldgate. Great décor and inviting from both outside & inside. Our coffee was superb. The end. If a place makes a great coffee you know they take pride and make a great effort, or just have an amazing barista. Kids soft boiled eggs with sourdough soldiers were amazing to look at and tasty. Hand cut chips with aioli were great. The warmed olives were tasty although light on with haloumi. The squid bun was tasty but would’ve been far greater as a non-​bun squid dish. The lemon curd meringue and double choc brownies were praised highly by the kids. The service was great from one person, a little strange from another who swore I had ordered a chilli beans dish, to which I had to insist that I had not. The overall menu is a little limited but changes seasonally and may just be a little shorter in winter.

We enjoyed a leisurely Sunday brekkie here last Sunday. Even though it was winter, it was quite pleasant outside on the deck. The restaurant inside was lovely and warm with open fires, most tables were reserved and they were quite busy. We had not booked, hence the deck. However being on the deck gave great access to the garden where my granddaughter enjoyed the heritage chooks, the cubby house and the sandpit. The staff were friendly and attentive, the good delicious, artisan, great quality and I suspect house made. I think the heritage chooks provided the eggs! The quality was amazing, the taste wonderful and we spent a beautiful couple of hours as an extended family unit and took lovely photos. This restaurant is child friendly which is great. But they don’t go overboard with the kid stuff. People without children would be just as comfortable here, as demonstrated by the number of people calling in whilst we were there. Well worth the drive, but advisable to book.

Cozy yet uncluttered, with fresh produce meals and eclectic beers. A great hills venue for a Sunday birthday lunch.

Enjoyed our meals today; breakfast bun and house made crumpets. I had the ginger lemongrass tea which was nice a bit light on flavour though… But it was ok. My daughter had a vanilla milkshake… Seemed like it was the healthiest milkshake going ! She liked it even though it wasn’t loaded with sugar so that is a bonus.
They have lots of tempting sweet and healthy looking treats to look forwards to trying next time

*I shall preface this review by saying that I’ve only ever eaten here when it’s been sunny/​warm enough to sit outside*
I’m going to give Patch a five. For my liking, they do a ripper brekky, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is typical of this end of the hills — easygoing, but with just a splash of ‘nose-​in-​the-​air’, which I find very amusing.
Before we first went (2^nd day they were open) we had heard they were trying to push the kid friendly vibe. Although they seem to cater for the young mum audience, according to reports I’ve heard come from the owners, the young mum crowd stopping in for a coffee once or twice a week doesn’t pay the bills, so they are trying to expand their clientel to include people who will buy cocktails and spend money!
Fair enough too. I hope this place has legs and is around for a while; The old indian restaurant in this spot seemed to thrive for years, whereas other restaurant spots in the same area of Stirling have a very hard time, turning over every couple of years.
Seems like you’re doing the right thing at the moment Patchies, keep it up!
And to any of you curious about somewhere to go in the hills for a bite, with or without kids, get into patch. Well worth a look!

Nestled back from the main street in Stirling, you will find a lovely bright colonial style building and café called Patch Kitchen & Garden.
What is unique about this café is that the back yard part it features a veggie patch used for the kitchen and large play area for children. The play area has a cubby, chickens and large grass area. It is definitely embraced and enjoyed by the kids.
They where running around and laughing while mums where sipping coffee and tea.
Inside there are books and blackboards for kids to play with as well. However, Patch is not advertised as a play café, they just offer some entertainment for children and are family friendly.
As for the menu, they sources local and organic produce and offer seasonal dishes. There is an amazing breakfast menu, which I must check out. Both of my visits at Patch have been around lunchtime. Word on the street is that the breakfast is very impressive.
I am a huge fan of hummus, so I did not have to think twice about ordering it. I also ordered a side of sweet potato chips (Yes please!). And to quench my thirst a jar of Sencha Iced Tea.
Well, what can I say? I am glad I live around the corner from Patch. I will end up being on of those «local regulars» at this place. The hummus was amazing, perfectly seasoned and with the right amount of acidity. It is hard to find a chef that knows the right taste for hummus. It was served with home made wholemeal flat bread, which was perfect. The sweet potato chips were cooked crispy and thin. The Iced tea was just so refreshing, I just want it every day.
As for the service, well the staff really know how to look after their customers. I had a great chat to the waiters about the café and what they are doing in the kitchen. They really went out of their way for me. I did not have a booking (which I suggest that you do) and they managed to fit me in and were very happy to do so.
I am looking forward to see how Patch develops. I kind of want to keep this café to myself. But, I also want to see them grow. Word is getting around quickly, so be sure to check them out soon.

Had a great day here after a recommendation from a friend. Great if you have kids and like your coffee delivered by hipsters (I mean that in a nice way).

Absolutely beautiful setting and discovered a really lovely little florist hiding in the back garden! Recommend the squid burgers ans salads highly, the chef was an absolute gem! Will be coming back and definitely a favorite haunt of mine!
