This was my first visit to Happy Corner, I have before had take away and had been happy with the food and the delivery service as well as price. This time we decided to dine-in, the experience was about as could be expected, the food was tasty and came out relatively quickly. The staff were attentive and provided forks for our guests where they struggled with the plastic chopsticks. The food was as expected, nothing outstanding but if you are after simple Chinese food this place will leave you satisfied. When I previously had take-away from here there was a Satay Chicken main meal on the menu which was really good, this however is not on the dine-in menu which I found odd, the take-away menu that was stuck next to the window near us did have the satay chicken meal on it, I will need to try and order it for dine-in next time i visit. Being in the Entertainment Book as well is a bonus to get a discount off the meal.

Great Chinese food. I didn’t have high expectations when coming here, as the last time my friend cam here — quite some time ago with different owners — it was not good. I must say, this was delicious! The spring rolls were awesome little bundle of joys and the chicken satays were juicy! We had a range of mains: peeking duck, pork ribs, garlic prawns and singapore noodles. Special shout out to the sizzling venison. The only thing that wasn’t amazing was the singapore noodles, that doesn’t mean they were horrible, just not as good as the other mains. Highly recommend!

This restaurant has been around for decades – I remember seeing it as a child, in the 1970s. This is the first time I’ve eaten their food, though, and I wish I’d eaten from here earlier. Everything, without a doubt, was DELICIOUS. The flavours were delicate and rich, the vegetables fresh and crisp, and extra bonus for not using broccolli as a filler as so many places do. Prompt delivery, amazing fried rice, this is hands down, the best Chinese food I’ve had for a while. (The photo is from home delivery – that’s my plate, not the restaurant’s!)

Not a lot of places do the salted egg style of fried dishes. If you don’t know what it’s like and want a try, go for the white bait salted egg.

Chinese speaking staff, check. Sichuan dishes, check. 1970s décor and Korean dramas on TV, check. This restaurant on Magill Road served the first spicy hot Chinese dish that I have had in Adelaide that actually tasted genuine. I have learnt that the way to order authentic food is to pick the dishes at the back of the book where ordinary locals(who think honey chicken is ‘being all fancy and foreign’). As a comparison, the satay beef that my Nan unwittingly ordered as an entrée(so ignorant) was dry and tasteless, whereas the spicy beef Sichuan dish was swimming with chilli, spices, well cooked beef and was just a flavour infusion in your mouth. Parking is provided across the road and this place was filled with both Chinese and local baby boomers. Was a pleasant meal and I definitely plan to go back. Maybe not with Nan.
