If wanting to escape the crowds of BarMerlo or Darwin’s at UQ, give Café Nano a go. Nestled amongst the science buildings, the café itself is a hole-in-the-wall with mostly outdoor seating. The coffee isn’t bad, but it’s not the best on campus. They have toasted sandwiches, soup, cake and cookies – the basics on which you can refuel throughout a day of study, without busting the bank. Shaded by looming buildings and trees, it’s a cool and quiet place to escape UQ’s hustle and bustle.

This is my favorite coffee place at UQ. The owners are friendly and if you go enough, they’ll remember your order. Get a flat white when it’s cool and a milk shake when it’s hot. Great deal on toasted sandwiches, too. Be prepared to stand in line, though.
