Save your money — give this place a miss! Dropped in here for some pub grub and St Kilda vibe — not worth the time and certainly not worth the money! Okay — the reason — ordered a schooner of nothing special beer $ 8 and a soft drink $ 4.50 — alright well we are in St Kilda… Thought we’d try the steak sandwich special $ 10, sounds good right? WRONG — came out in a burnt crispy long hotdog type bun, the steak was about half a minute steak per ‘sandwich’, had some sort of spicy flavour with soft grilled capsicum, and some melted mozerella. Oh, there was a small pile of mesculin mix on the side too! Nothing like what I would hazard a guess most people would expect of a steak sanga! The table near us got theirs as we were choking ours down trying to remain good humoured, they weren’t happy either and asked for the manager and a surly young woman came out and tried to make excuses that what they got(one woman had only one sliver of ‘steak’ on half of her ‘sandwich’) was what was advertised! And after a few minutes of arguing finally gave in to a refund. All in all what I would normally have written off as a one off bad experience transformed with the manager’s attitude to one of writing this place off! There are many average places, this place has restored my faith in the fact that there are still places that are genuinely shit!

Very good weeknight and weekend deals. The $ 5 pizzas on the weekend are quite good for the price and the wings look good as well. Their beer selection leaves something to be desired(typically Carlton plus some pale ale), but they also have pretty decent cocktails. The atmosphere is usually pretty good, with a lot of locals and often good music. There is ample outdoor seating as well as room inside. For the deals on the week nights, check their website as they sometimes change. It is worth coming early on those nights as they tend to be pretty popular. They are dog friendly outdoor on the patio which is also nice. For me, the main drawback is the beer selection. Carlton is undrinkable and the other selection is typically so-so. That said, I still go to the Branch for the atmosphere and the food, so they must be doing something right.

Delicious! $ 5 pizza on weekends, and their wing night was good too. Downside is they do not have takeaway. Love this place and can’t wait to continue to try more of their food.

Whenever I’m in St Kilda, I always be sure to make a visit to The St Kilda Branch. Atmosphere: Absolutely fantastic. The St Kilda Branch consistently draws in an alright crowd. That’s right! No seedy people in sight! It makes for a great tool to meet some new people as well — everyone’s just out to have a great time. Venue: It’s pretty spacious, so you don’t have to worry about needing to squish. There’s a courtyard as well as an indoor area, more place to have a good time! Food/Drinks: They have a well-stocked bar with standard prices for drinks. I’m a huge fan of their food actually! Their Hot Wings w/Ranch Dip is delicious and is a perfect complement to a nice cold drink. NOTES: ~ Monday: $ 8 Nachos, $ 5 Corona, $ 8 Margaritas ~ Tuesday: $ 8 Pasta ~ Wednesday: $ 12 Porterhouse Steak w/Chips & Salad ~ Thursday: $ 10 Chicken Parmigiana ~ Friday, Saturday, Sunday: $ 5 Pizza, $ 5 Wing Dings(w/any drink purchase) And yes, they have Gluten-Free options!

Located on Barkly Street opposite the buzz of Acland, The Branch serves as a central hang out for locals and visitors alike. The establishment –that has seen many transformations throughout history– comes alive on the weekends when patrons can secure a large table out on the street, or can relax inside the eclectic-decorated interior and listen to the sounds of resident guitarists. Like many city pubs and bars, The Branch plays host to an array of specials each day of the week, including Mexican Mondays(where you can share a giant plate of delicious nachos for only $ 8), $Pasta Tuesdays, $ 12 Steak Night on Wednesdays and $ 5 pizzas and wingdings on the weekends. The menu consists of typical pub fare(with a few tasty salads thrown in the mix), but is not served up in gigantic proportions, allowing you to enjoy your meal without feeling overstuffed. As a regular visitor of the Branch, it’s hard to pinpoint the best meal on the menu, but with prices averaging around $ 10-$ 15, it’s affordable enough to sample the lot. The location is popular for private or corporate functions, and for a minimum of 80 guests, the venue can be exclusively yours.

The Branch is nice and open, the indoor tables sort of stretch out to the courtyard out the front of the venue, allowing both indoor and outdoor diners to listen to the live entertainment or enjoy the warm weather. The funky interior has been decked out with metal keg barrels as stools and black and white shadows painted across the walls. Being right at the bottom of Acland Street The Branch is a very popular destination during the warmer months and often takes part in festivities like the St Kilda Beach Party and the St Kilda Festival. I love the Branch Bar on a Sunday, you can get a variety of food options for only $ 5! Pizza, Chicken Wings and of course beer! They also have some live bands to entertain guests, although I have often found the music to be incredibly loud so if you do not wish to shout at your friends, try and get a seat outdoors first.

This is a great place to relax, enjoy the company of others and really live the Melbourne lifestyle. The St Kilda Branch is a hip pub, bar and restaurant all rolled into one. In a lot of ways it also feels like a café… Hmmm. I dont know if Im describing this place very well. The walls are covered in black and white wallpaper with a tree motif. The bar stools are made of old kegs upholstered with padded seats. Intimate little tables that look like they belong in a comfy café are for diners… and somehow it all works. LazySunday afternoons offer acoustic acts that are good at what they do, and sound great. Weekend evenings kick it up a notch with resident DJ’s spinning to a fun yet relaxed party crowd. The venue works well in both situations. The food here is awesome too! In addition to the Chefs daily specials, which include $ 5 pizzas and $ 8 Pastas, the regular menu is extensive, tasty, and still very affordable. Come in for the wing dings too!

The Branch in St. Kilda is very much the pub that epitomizes Australia. A little bit modern with cheap food, live acoustic sets and flowing beer. If this is what you love to do then it’s perfect. It seems to have become very popular on the Sunday for the«Sunday sips» and can get a little rowdy. With steaks, pasta and $ 5 pizzas on the menu it attracts quite a crowd. One tip: Don’t walk by any time around«Mad Monday» because it’s hectic and extremely annoying as with the outdoor seating on the street the footy guys feel open(in their dresses) to abuse anyone walking past. Be warned.
