Thought while in Melbourne I’d check out bahn mi’s given that Perth have a few amazing Vietnamese roll stores popping up. Looking for the best bahn mi in Melbourne I came across N Tran Bakery. Staying on Chapel St with my friend I figured I would try the tofu roll that had been all over the Internet on my search. For $ 6.40 with chilli and coriander, the roll a a whole was… somewhat plain compared to my previous meat ball one from N Lee in the CBD($ 6.50). The chilli is a paste of red chillis minced up and spread so be careful, it’s quite spicy! I also got three rice paper rolls with sauce. which cost $ 14.80 all up. Under $ 10 for each item but won’t be back again.

Cheap rolls here are the best. You can get anything from a chicken to tofu salad roll for the grand price of wait for it… $ 4. This has to be one of the cheapest Vietnamese bakeries around. Not only are the rolls cheap they are taste-a-licious. A word of warning: the chillies they put on it can get quite hot. And when I say hot, my friend who had one almost went into anaphylaxis when he bit one(and he is a spice eater). They also have pork pies which are a great bite sized treat. No surprise they get quite busy at lunch, but don’t worry you will never have to wait long.
