First of all, we had the food delivered. It’s great that they offer a delivery service but would be even better if it didn’t take an hour and a half to get to us(and this was a Wednesday evening). The food was all very good. The highlight for me was the Dal-e-Punjabi. Double check that it’s all in there when it arrives — the pappadums must have got lost on the way. Even though it took so long to get to arrive I was very satisfied with the meal. Well, satisfied until I had to dash to the toilet.

As a big Indian food fan, I was pretty disappointed with Shish Mahal for a variety of reasons. The food was average(rice and vegetarian curry), and there was literally no one else in there except my group. I don’t know how places like this stay in business. The décor is very 80’s and the atmosphere(or lack thereof) leaves a lot to the imagination. With a bit of a makeover, this could be a winning place. At the moment though, just your average Indian restaurant.

I used to live down the road from this Indian restaurant so it was convenient on a Friday night when I’d get home from after-work drinks half-buzzed. The Saag Chicken and Naan was always a win in such a tender state, but to be honest, the food was never that special. I could have put anything in my stomach and it would have tasted orgasmic. I never got to dine-in here, but when I’d pick up my take-away, I’d always enjoying looking at the plastic flower arrangements and gilded furnishings that adorned the restaurant area. It was always quiet in there, often empty, and I’d think to myself, I really should bring some friends here for a fun, ironic BYO Indian experience. There’s my tip to you, dear reader.
