Hhhmmm… Service was way below average to start with. When I rang to book, the person answering the phone didn’t seem very 1: wanting to be at work and 2: wanting to actually help make a booking… When we went to order our food we were told it was a 40 min wait… That’s ok we thought we’ll grab coffee and have a catch up… I order a coffee and a juice. Firstly — they had no coconut water and offered me just plain tap water(not even water from their filtering station…) thought hhhmmm yeah ok that’ll be fine. Got my juice 15 mins later, it was the wrong juice… Finally got it fixed… My friend ordered a kids juice and an adult smoothie… Except they are the same size… Small… 45 mins goes past and people who’d ordered after us are all starting to finish their meals… Hhhmmm interesting… My friend goes to query, oh they are MAKING yours now… So an hr after ordering, we get our meals… We ordered 2 lots of pancakes and a breakfast wrap — not exactly rocket science… The food however made up for everything else hence the 2 stars rather than one… I’d only come here if you had time to spare…

I have driven past here for almost 4 years and always wondering what the little purple building was. I need wonder no more. I like the idea of a book shop/café combo and I was impressed walking in through the book shop to the undercover garden eating area. Millpoint Book Café isn’t a huge place but that definitely helps the intimate vibe. We ordered the eggs benedict with ham and the Spanish eggs and while the Spanish eggs were great the eggs benedict weren’t quite up to the mark. The hollandaise was too creamy and not vinegary enough for my liking and somehow they managed to poach the eggs so the white was undercooked but the yolk was solid. The grilled ham was great however and Turkish bread was very light and tasty. The coffee and the juices are great(we had the Zing and the Replenish) so I will be back but I will definitely be trying something other than the eggs benedict from the menu.

Went to this delightful place on a spring Sunday morning and loved it. I ordered the eggs«benedict» and opted for the smoked salmon. The hollandaise was light and eggs were poached to perfection. It was well presented on a bed of spinach and Turkish bread. A common choice of breakfast for me, but one that I never get sick of eating when done well and this was no exception. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was quite serene for how popular the place is. Bonus points if you stop and buy a book on the way out from the bookshop. Will definitely visit this place again.

Went here a while back :) Great service the ladies were quite nice and helpful! A good range of books and really good hot chocolate! It wasn’t busy at all as well which was quite nice for a café/bookshop place. Hopefully I’m back there soon :)

I have heard so much about Millpoint Caffe Bookshop and one fine day, we decided to head down to Millpoint Caffe to give their brunch a try. Interestingly, this store is part bookshop and part café with seatings both in the bookshop and at the alfresco courtyard area outside. However, books are not allowed to be taken to the alfresco dining area. We arrived there around lunchtime and I was so surprised to see that the café was so busy although it looked small from the outside. Looks like I was wrong! I had the French Toast($ 14.50) topped with mixed berry compote, lemon and vanilla mascarpone cheese and Persian fairy floss. When my French Toast arrived on the table, I had a good stare at it for a while. It was presented beautifully with the Persian Fairy Floss like icing on a cake. The mixed berry compote and lemon and vanilla mascarpone cheese complements each other well with a lovely combination of sweet and creamy flavours. However, the toast itself was a bit dry and could be much better if it was moist or soaked through. Mum had the Trio of Sauteed Mushrooms($ 14.50) which consists of a mix of mushrooms, goats cheese, mixed greens served on rye topped with a soft poached egg with a drizzle of truffle oil. There was a generous amount of mushrooms with a great variety. I had a test of mum’s dish and it was delicious with lots of earthy and tasty flavours coming from the mushrooms. The eggs were poached perfectly too with yellow liquid oozing out and drizzling on top of the mushrooms and rye. This dish definitely shouts mushrooms galore or mushroom fest. Perfect for the mushroom lover. Apart from offering good food, Millpoint Caffe also offers a good selection of cakes, pastries and slices to choose from. It was hard to make a decision but in the end I had the Orange and Almond Cake($ 7.50) and the Lemon Meringue Tart($ 4.50). I think what Millpoint Caffe has executed well is their cakes. The Lemon Meringue Tart had a lovely lemon flavour with a smooth meringue and a well executed pastry. The Orange and Almond cake was another one of our favourites. It was moist and not too dense with a subtle hint of tangy sweetness. What I liked about Millpoint Caffe is the atmosphere. It is simple, relaxing and comfortable which makes it great to catch up with friends over food, coffee and a cake or even getting lost in a book while sipping your coffee. The service — friendly and welcoming. My only advice to you is to come during off peak hours as it can take up to 30 minutes for the food to arrive on your table if it’s busy unless you don’t mind waiting. Apart from that, I guess it’s worth a try!

Food is great! Service though.. wutt? When we got there 15 Minutes after they had opened on a Sunday morning we joined a small queue to order. There’s no table service as in sit down and then order. The first rookie error I made was not to find a table before ordering because the tables all have numbers on them. What is with Perth and this system? it’s confusing. Second mistake was assuming that because we were early we could sit wherever we wanted. Nope. Wrong. There were only three tables INTHEENTIRECAFE that didn’t have a reserved sign on it. Some of the reserved were not even until midday. Chick behind the counter said she couldn’t tell me which we could sit at in the meantime or even if there were any avail just for walk ins. Anyway! Coffee was ultra hot from the bowels of Pele volcano hot. Juices were excellent. Spanish baked eggs superb. This area of Perth is weird. So close to the foreshore and any food business within a stone’s throw is always redonk busy. My advice to the owners is take no bookings if you’re that busy. First come first serve to avoid pissing off first timers and blow ins like me.

A lovely place for breakfast and brunch, especially for the bookworms who’d rather be reading ‘real’ physical books! Best part is, they are open everyday! Free car park and there are a few tables located right in the bookstore — amongst the bookshelves. Located directly across the road from the renowned Ciao Italia.

Ventured here on a Saturday morning with a friend and it was packed but we managed to snare a table outside. I saw the menu and it didn’t look too exciting… then i was doubting it would be any good and I kind of got the impression that this place seemed dated compared to other new brekky spots i have visited… I am happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! The eggs benedict I ordered knocked the other places off the chart it was THAT good! Best one I’ve had in a very long time so I’ll definitely be back for that… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. It was served on turkish bread too which I thought was a nice change and was really filling without being too heavy. My friend ordered the scrambled eggs with goats cheese, chives served on turkish bread too and she couldn’t get enough of it! Lots of yummy snacks for morning tea were on display at the counter, they also do a wide variety of healthy juices which I would love to try next time I’m there. If you’re lucky enough to nab a table inside you can sit amongst the books as it’s also a bookshop. Just goes to show a somewhat safe and traditional menu can do the trick!

Yummy! I saw pictures on ‘the Breakfast in Perth’ instagram and me and my friend decided we had to try it. This place is a bookshop & café… The front is books and at the back there is a sheltered courtyard where you can dine for breakfast & lunch. They are open 7 days a week from 8:30−3pm When we arrived i noticed almost every table had a reserved sign on them(so yes, they take bookings!) It was very busy but luckily without a booking we nabbed a table. At first glance of the menu everything was quite unassuming and i was worried that this place wouldn’t live up to my expectations. As simple as the menu may seem the food we got was delicious! I ordered the scrambled eggs with chives and goatscheese on turkish bread. It was smooth and creamy, my mouth is watering thinking of it! My friend ordered the eggs benedict and she was also very impressed. They have a range of fresh juices you can order for $ 7 and also use Fiori coffee. It’s a great little breakfast stop, but I’d probably book just in case :)

The MillPoint Caffé Bookshop or the ‘Book Café’ as it is affectionately called, is as the name suggests a gorgeous book shop and café on MillPoint Road in South Perth. Although located on busy street, the café is a quiet little haven where you can enjoy a coffee and cake, meal or simply have a wander through the bookshop. The Book Café has a quaint feel to it and is the kind of place that you expect to find in a movie with Meg Ryan standing behind the counter. I went to the Book Café with my colleagues for an end of year lunch. I ordered the Detox juice(carrot, pear, apple and ginger). It was nice and refreshing but didn’t compare to the juice I had at The Dizzy Witch the day before. I ordered the Gourmet Vegetable Stack($ 14.50) which is described as Seasonal vegetables served at room temperature, sprinkled with goats cheese & basil pesto topped with a warm poached egg Our drinks came to us quite quickly but we were waiting quite a while for meals. Thankfully, the wait was worth it! Everyone’s food looked delicious and well presented. I love a good vegie stack and this was one of the best I’ve ever had. The vegies were perfectly grilled and cooked and had just the right amount of basil pesto and cheese to offset the vegetables. The egg was poached to perfection! No hard yellow bits to be found. Would I return? Yes! We sat outside this time but I would recommend sitting at a table in the bookshop area. I’m a self-confessed ‘bookworm’ and being surrounded by books makes me happy. It can get a bit warm under the plastic roof in the outside area, so retreating inside to the air-conditioning might be a good idea on warm days. The menu is simple but is done very well and in my opinion, represents really good value for money.

If you’re lucky enough to get a table indoors here — and beware, there are only a couple — you’ll be surrounded by books, which is my idea of a heavenly way to while away an hour with a good coffee on my own. It’s a great place to meet friends for a cuppa because who cares if anyone is late? You have plenty of browsing in the bookstore to do before they arrive! I think this café has now really found its feet, with a good range of breakfast and lunch dishes, good coffee and lovely fresh juices on order for the day. The drawback to this location is the outdoor area on a hot day. In mild weather, it’s a great place to sit, but in hot weather it’s very sticky, even with the portable air conditioner. Like I said, go for the tables indoors and you’ll be a happy camper!

I met some girlfriends here for lunch because I have been here a few times and never had a complaint — this time was no different! The outside can be a little small for two friends with prams, but that’s not their fault the prams are massive! I had the nachos plate which was a big serving and delicious, and not very expensive. A girlfriend had one of the salads there which looked yum and very substantial. The coffee was also great and we all had fresh juices made. Great service, a beautiful venue(sitting in the courtyard on a sunny day) and delicious food. You can also go in and browse the books after your meal or while you are waiting for your friends.

Dont READ into the HYPE Had driven past this place a few times and was always a bit curious. After consulting online reviews it seems this would be a decent place to get some brekkie. I live in the area(walking distance) and thought it would be good to try out this eatery for a lazy Saturday morning breakfast with the gf today. Initial impressions were quiet good. As you walk in you are confronted by something that resembles a bookshop rather than an eatery. There are a few scattered tables inside on which to sit and eat. Going through to the left and you pass the till into the outdoor shaded area which houses most of the dining area. This is where my positive experience became a bit jaded. We sat down at a table after another couple left as it wasn’t obvious whether to wait to be seated or just help yourself to a table. We waited for a bit but discovered we had to get the menus ourselves. None if this was a bit issue as they were quiet busy. After scouring the menu for options that interested me I have to say I was a bit set back. The options seem quiet basic and resemble very basic meals that can basically be cooked at home. The pricing seemed on the average side though. We made our orders and the food came out about 15 — 20 minutes later. Not an issue considering the place was quiet busy at this point. When my plate was put down in front of me(Vegetarian Breakfast) I noticed a glaring omission. There was NO spinach even though it was stated on the menu as an item of the meal. I went up and talked to the staff at the counter who to be fair were very apologetic and quickly ushered the plate into the kitchen and back out to my table with said missing spinach now on the plate. The waiter was quiet apologetic when handing me back my dish. It got worse from here. Now reassessing the plate in front of me I noticed something. There wasn’t really a great amount of ANYFOOD besides the two large slices of Rye bread which nearly took up most of the plate. If I wanted to eat only toast I would have ordered a dish labelled as «toast and …» not what I had ordered. There was literally 7 small pieces of spinach. The food was cooked well but not amazingly. The mushrooms on both our dishes were both overcooked. The bread mentioned in my plate was clearly burnt at one end(in a toaster?). The bread in the mushroom dishes was drenched in olive oil and the overall presentation of both dishes whilst not messy didn’t really entice the taste buds either. Considering this was breakfast out, I was hoping to eat something that I wouldn’t normally be able to cook better myself at home. Sorry to say but I wouldn’t recommend this place. Whilst the book idea is great and original to my knowledge the food has lots of room for improvement.

This place is always my fall back to place if I want a good hearty English, bacon and egg sort of breakfast. There isn’t anything particularly stunning or amazing about this place in terms of it’s menu but I think I love it because: 1) It’s absolutely charming. 2) Just sitting in the courtyard is great 3) The service and the staff are so friendly and warm it’s hard not to smile and chat with them! 4) There is a book shop out at the front of the café! 5) it’s decently priced and generous portions. T hey also make such yummy juices too. OH and it’s all day breakfast! Simple and hearty meals(nothing too special or different) but it just has such warm friendly ambiance and service, I guess that’s why I keep coming back.

The Owner of this store Adam, used to work in some of London’s well known independent book stores. Including the travel book store featured in the movie Notting Hill. This is reflected in the great selection of books, fiction and non fiction. The children’s collection is brilliant, with the right mix of books for everyone. Food and books feature heavily in my life. Combining the two is also a favourite activity of mine. You are encouraged to take your time browsing books and discussing their merits with the staff. Or sit down and enjoy a meal with a good book. The coffee is excellent and uses Fiori coffee. The food is delicious standard café fare. On the weekends this place is always busy. If you can grab a table outside enjoy the fresh air, great food and a good book.

Books, food, treats; some of my favourite things all combined into one at the Caffe Book Shop. Walking in you could imagine it to be a bookstore or even a library with shelves and tables covered in books of all kinds, tables and chairs to sit and read your books whilst enjoying sipping coffee, eating a scrumptious piece of cake or having a proper lunch. If you walk down to the service area there is a display cabinet with delicious deserts and fresh rolls; my favourites would have to be roasted pumpkin with caramelised onions or the smoked salmon with brie. There is a little terrace where you can sit outside or if you’re more like me and prefer to stay cool and flick through a few books whilst waiting for your food the inside is a perfect spot. The service is friendly and fast, food is beyond delish and you’re surrounded by such a variety of books what else could you ask for?

My cousins run an event called Tasting Australia and part of that event includes the World Food Media Awards in which several categories focus on the best cookbooks released every year. Since these are a dime a dozen, what with the popularity of reality cooking shows and DIY masterchef experiments at home, I tend to make a note of all the nominees in these categories. What I’ve noticed is that pretty much all of these end up being stocked in the MillPoint Caffe Book Shop which is a sign that the owners know their quality food literature. This ye olde looking bookstore also has a café where the menu is succint and the quality of food and coffee always good. Drop in, buy one of their highly nominated books, grab a table, order something from the menu, and the minutes will fly by.

My two favourite g-rated things are soy lattes and books. And if I can get both in one place, well, that’s simply a bonus. I used to drive past this awesome purple building everyday on my way to uni until one day, I stopped and discovered they serve Fiori coffee. It was my lucky day. Since then I’ve become a regular. I stop for a coffee, and end up buying half a dozen books. Regardless of the fact that my bookshelf now consists of mostly unread books, I won’t cease my weekly visits here.

Book and coffee lovers rejoice! This old purple house in South Perth satiates a thirst for two of the greatest things in life: reading and caffeine. It also has a reliable, no-fuss breakfast/lunch menu and an assortment of indulgent cakes. Oh, and heaps of fresh juices and shakes as well. Right now I’m downing a Honey Bee smoothie in the patio area around the side. It’s a treat. And I’m thinking about getting one of the Brie and Salmon Croissants in the glass cabinet. And the Berry Custard Tart looks alright, too. Somebody stop me! Inside, the wooden floors creek. There are a bunch of antique shelves packed with books for purchase and some longer tables to dine at or hold meetings for your book-club. You might not find your best meal here, but you will find plenty of soul.
