Date night and need something casual and walking distance. Haven’t been here for well over a year so time to check in again. Had a nice feel and had a $ 10 cocktail special so many groups in for a few. Nice space with hard surfaces so gets noisy. Food was good and reasonably priced. Had to send back a glacé of flat sparkling. Nice for a casual dinner. Outstanding? No but still on our list.

Walking along South Melbourne, found this bar/restaurant. Thought it looked worth trying! Exterior is appealing from walking past. We went in on Wednesday and they had specials for $ 12 meals. We ordered at the bar and sat outside. The staff here were really friendly and assisted us with great care! For dinner I orders the vegetarian risotto with side of chips and mate order the chicken Parma! The food was served on the plate nicely. The risotto was nice, nothing brilliant, but was still a substantial meal, food was fresh. The chicken Parma itself was really nice, chicken maybe slightly dry but the flavour and taste was there. Served on a bed of potato chips and salad! The salad unfortunately wasn’t the best, not very fresh at all so that was left on the plate. The whole experience was nice tho, great place, fun staff and I can see myself returning to try there burgers.

Contacted Honey Bar to organise a function. The lady was supposed to call me back to discuss. Still haven’t heard a thing and this is over a week ago! Where is the service? Having function at Pier 35 instead, unlike Honey Bar — they have great customer service! They responded promptly and even emailed photos of different venue areas along with all the package options.

Fantastic venue! I highly recommend for any type of function(birthdays, xmas party, or even just a small group for friends). The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is amazing. And of course the drinks are top notch. Will be back again for sure.

Now this place is the PERFECT place to call a home away from home. The ultra modern environment set on one of Melbourne’s most cosmopolitan streets is so inviting at any time of the day or night that you actually don’t want to leave. A full bar and function are is available, the drinks are great prices without being too cheap and you can choose either a booth or a table, whatever suits. What I love is they do good food so well. Noting over the top, none of this fancy schmanzy sth melb menu that most places on Clarendon try and do and fail, The Honey Bar does a great array of dishes both pub and restaurant fair. If you can go there and not find something you want to eat then I give up. By far the best is that traditional Parma. Now he chef probably hates to cook it but when you take that first taste you know you are in Melbourne. It is perfect. As a Sydney-sider this is a perfect home away from home. I will continue to make a beeline for The Honey Bar, every time I visit melb.

Honey Bar is a welcome addition to the South Melbourne Pub offering. With great staff, cool cocktails and a good wine list, I have never had a bad night here(and i have spent plenty here!). It has a decent offering in the food department, my personal favourite would be the Chicken 65 for nibbles or the Ham, Basil and Cheese pizza for a more fulfilling meal! Always my go-to place for big events in Melbourne(looking forward to AFL Grand Final again!) Follow @thehoneybar for great events and offers in the bar!

Honey has a lovely modern interior. Located in South Melbourne with wonderful staff and an awesome bar. It was pretty much packed last night and my friends and I had a great time with a few beers & cocktails then we ate some delicious pizza. Honey have special midweek night too! Tuesday nights they have $ 12 meals, Wednesday night Trivia — which has become very popular & Thursday’s 2 for 1 cocktails! Next time I am in the area I will be going back for some Honey lovin’.

On the site of what once was an old bank, Honey is an ultra modern and purpose built venue with two levels of space. However, I’ve yet too see the top floor unoccupied, as it regularly holds functions. Big TV screens are abound for those of you who like to watch grown men chase a leather ball around a grass field for a few hours(otherwise known as football.) Otherwise it’s so-so, definitely not a social bar; If people are going to go out to a bar, they should talk to the others around them. If you just want to talk to only your friends, one may as well do this at home. Run of the mill staple bar foods and snacks (note, last time i visited) Can’t remember exactly what, so probably should visit again soon. Full of people that ignore you, some good drinks — better than a lot in the area. Average beers. Nothing too special

What a pub meal should be; good size portions, simple presentation and excellent prices. It is a regular for after work quick dinner or lunch. Great staff too.

Honey is a gorgeous bar with great staff, scrumptious food and delicious drinks. It has outdoor seating, a general public downstairs bar and a private functions area upstairs which has brilliant views of the Melbourne CBD. It’s just a short tram or taxi ride from the Melbourne CBD too. Let @thehoneybar on Twitter know you’re popping in and Steve & the Honey team will be sure to roll out the welcome mat.

This is a pub that you wish could be your lounge room — comfy, good ales, great food. The menu is impressive — I’m a big fan of the very fine parma and chips. Wander in, chill out. Love it.

From the outside Honey appears to be a Soviet-era concrete bunker. Sure they’ve made an attempt to brighten things up with some cheerful yellow touches, but it’s a depressing looking building all the same. Inside things are far nicer, sleek and modern. The space is cavernous, so when there aren’t many people around you really feel it. What is probably a reasonable sized crowd seems half the size, which is never great for ambiance. Honey really draws in the after works drink crowd, so expect to see rowdy ‘suits’ taking advantage of the regular drink specials. The food is designed to share and is great for grazing over drinks. Options such as the Patatas bravas with chorizo or slow roasted field mushrooms with zaatar butter are pretty delicious. All in all Honey is one of those places that you can’t help but think hasn’t quite reached its potential yet.

You know, the owners of Honey should be complimented. It wasn’t until I actually took a photo of the joint that I noticed just how hideous the building Honey occupies is. It’s ghastly, a concrete block with holes cut out. But even though the Honey crowd isn’t my crowd(they’re the kind of people who’ll have fake nails and care about fashion, for God’s sake) I never noticed until now. I guess it’s because the insides of the building manage to generate warmth. Because, even if it’s not my kind of ambiance, there is a genuine vibe to the place.

It was pretty easy to work out what sort of bar Honey is, or more importantly thinks it is. After spending the afternoon across the road in the Limerick Arms watching the rugby along with the screaming masses my friends and I crossed the road to Honey to find the door lady leaning against the wall. She said she was there to keep out the riff-raff or ‘ferals from across the road’ as she put it so eloquently. Strangely enough she let us in to the mostly empty bar and its low key atmosphere which goes to show they need a new door lady. Honey is basically a wide-open space sparsely furnished with the big bar as it’s centrepiece. It’s not bad but the stainless steel interior decorating reminds me too much of a generic pub, owned by a beverage conglomerate that is basically an alcohol-serving version of Maccas. Everything is too organised and sterile. Having said that the staff were friendly and accommodating of some rowdy behaviour and I’m sure Honey has it’s moments with a full crowd in. Just don’t try to walk in from across the street.

Honey Bar has what many other pubs lack — seriously convenient location. Ideal for after work drinks, Friday pub lunches and weekend catchups with friends. I’ve even known them to do fairly sizeable functions. No matter what sort of pub/bar type experience you’re seeking, chances are Honey Bar caters for it. Courtyards, lounges, bar space, watch-the-traffic-go-by street seating and restaurant tables are all covered here. The food falls into the upmarket pub/bistro category. They know what they’re good at and they stick to it. Sure, it’s a little fancy but it’s still good, basic food with names you can recognise. Be sure to hit Honey Bar on Sundays in summer… I have a feeling it’s going to go off.

After contemporary and classic pub meals, free flowing beer on tap and a great open space? Honey bar has all three. A very popular destination for the after work, office crowd, Honey Bar has great happy hour specials between 5pm and 7pm on Fridays with beer, wine and basics all for $ 5! If you can knock off early do it! Honey bar gets very busy right on 5pm, however the inside space is quite large and there is also some seating outdoors. Food wise, they serve up all the classic pub meals, such as chicken parma, beef burger with fries as well as homemade pizza, but they also have some nice contemporary Australian dishes, my favourite being the Moroccan style vegetable tagine with cous cous and fresh yoghurt, yum! Honey Bar often host specialty nights surrounding all the big Melbourne events(Grand Final, Spring Carnival ect.) And have a variety of food and drink packages available for those wishing to attend. Don’t hesitate to contact the staff if you are planning a function of your own. They are more than willing to assist for groups of all shapes and sizes.

A good corporate watering hole, meeting place for friends and a great place to watch the footy semi-finales! Flat screen TV’s in bars are a must in Melbourne especially around the AFL Season & Spring racing carnival. Honey Bar has a great vibe and is always full of fun relaxed and easygoing people. It’s easily accessible location on the corner of Park Street and Calrendon street, making parking accessible on each of the street corners surrounding the venue. Bar tables and lounge couches are amongst the interior as you walk in and the upstairs level offers a function room which caters for large numbers which also situated near the bathrooms, which can be a struggle to climb after a few drinks. I’ve only ever drank at this bar and ordered the occasional snack from the bar menu. The options on the menu sound much more desirable than they actually are, and I must admit they weren’t very flavorsome even after a few cocktails.
