Not the best customer service been here a few times big range but staff don’t like giving people the time of day

Chef’s Hat is one of those shops you walk into and discover that you suddenly own nothing and NEED everything in your kitchen. It’s probably not the reality… but things and things!
If you’ve got rubber arms like myself and don’t need much convincing that items like blue salad bowls or a Cumulus Inc cookbook are missing from your life, then Chef’s Hat is a dangerous place for wallets.
But frivolous fanciful purchases aside, Chef’s Hat is damn handy and their prices are excellent for genuinely great kitchenware. I have been shopping at Chef’s Hat for all kitchen essentials for a long time, so it wasn’t until I saw the price that the large department stores charge for things like Scanpans that I understood why my family looked at me like I was some kind of secret moneybags when I used them to cook.
Pans and knives especially, the prices are much cheaper than RRP and they have a great selection.
Upstairs there is additional kitchen hardware and hospitality specials that I don’t really venture into because I don’t own a house nor eligible for the discount, but if you know someone that can buy from them wholesale — might be a good idea to convince them to join you on your shopping adventure!
if you have a new kitchen to stock, or want to expand your cooking repertoire with some fun new tools, this is a worthwhile trip.

A cooks heaven! This place is somewhere where I could honestly pick up my presents for the next few years. I love just going in and browsing at all the kitchen products and making a wish list as well as seeing all the little gadgets I probably don’t need but I want.
The staff are quite friendly and they greet you as you walk in, are always making sure you don’t need any help and showing you the latest new stuff they have in. It’s definitely a wonderful place to go for stuff you need for the kitchen!

If you love to cook then you will be in heaven at chef’s hat. They have everything for your home or industrial kitchen at very affordable prices. Great for cutlery crockery and general kitchen utensils.
The staff are friendly and helpful and it you need any more inspiration you’re directly across from south Melbourne market where there is an array of fresh produce.

For those in the know, Chef’s Hat hardly needs any introduction. For those that don’t, it’s time to get on it. Chef’s Hat is one of the premier suppliers to the hospitality industry, boasting the largest kitchenware showroom in the country (according to their website). Besides supplying the hospitality industry, their products are open to the general public as well.
If you’re just starting out in home cooking, walking in here might be a bit overwhelming. As they cater to the hospitality industry, there are hundreds of variations of a single product. Wine glasses come in all shapes and prices. Frying pans range from standard Teflon non-​stick home use ones up to traditional copper and iron pans used in commercial kitchens.
But don’t be daunted, take your time to browse the products and look at items that you’re interested in. The staff are friendly and are more than willing to give advice. The store is run more like a warehouse, so don’t expect someone to come up to you offering help or trying to sell. But if you need help, just approach a staff member and they’ll drop whatever they are doing to come help you. Amazing.
I was there just yesterday to buy a sharpening iron, roasting pan, and a Microplane grater. Great selection of products, with a range of prices depending on your needs and level of Masterchef-​ness. Yes I just made that up. Of particular note is their display shelves of knives. I have a fascination with kitchen knives, and their collection is wonderful. They have probably all the commercial brands like Global, Mundial, Wusthof, & Victorinox.
As mentioned by a few other Unilocalers, their prices sometimes are on the high side. I would suggest coming here to find a hard to find item, or something more commercial grade. They offer trade accounts as well, and an accompanying discount to go with it. The trade discount really makes a difference, so it’s time to befriend your local chef or café owner!

Excellent shop. Excellent variety of cookware etc. Wonderful staff and an unbeatable after sales service, which others should aspire to. It gets five stars from me and will get my custom every time, I even go out of my way to go there.

Chef’s Hat makes kitchen utensils, appliances and kitchen gadgets so damn cool. If you’re plotting to get your partner to do the cooking at home forever more, then bring them here. They’ll want to hack away at a carcass using a Zwilling Henckel knife or flip pancakes in a Scanpan in no time. For those who already consider themselves cooking aficionados, you’ll find just about anything here, from the ordinary and handy to the unique and obscure.

I must confess I am addicted to home wares, in particular kitchenware. I consider them pretty accessories for your home that are both practical and useful and therefore (relatively) guilt free!
Anything you could want on your table, on the kitchen bench or in your cupboards can be found here. In my oh too fleeting visit I was tempted by the discount glassware, cook books, tangines, grass look place-​mats, tapas dishes and colourful cutting boards. That was just the first five minutes!
The staff let you browse without interaction but are friendly and present nonetheless. I did note that my just purchased bamboo steamers were more expensive here, however the specials may counteract the mark up, depending on your shopping list.
My first visit only skimmed the surface of this store, however I promise to be back Chef’s Hat. This is only the beginning of our love affair!

To be very clear, Chef’s Hat is every closet Masterchef contestant’s dream. Serving both wholesale and retail customers, within the walls of Chef’s Hat you can find not one but several of all those kitchen things you’ve ever required.
Stocking everything from melon-​ballers to tagines, champagne glass dish racks to fish knives, I really can’t imagine whatever it is you’re looking for can’t be acquired here.

Starting out as a wholesaler exclusively to the hospitality industry, Chef’s Hat is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the South Melbourne markets and is a veritable cooking lover’s paradise, stocking over 15,000 lines over two gigantic floors.
Whether you’re in the market for a dinner set at outlet prices or a professional quality deep fat fryer for just under a grand, Chef’s Hat is the place to go.
How did I find myself at Chef’s Hat? My clumsiness led to the breakage of not one but ALL of my wine glasses, necessitating a trip to Chef’s Hat to stock up on wine and martini glasses at some very reasonable prices.
The selection on offer at Chef’s Hat is extraordinary. I think there were roughly 20 different styles of wine glasses on offer ranging from $ 3 to more like $ 15 each.
Staff are friendly and helpful although I’d advise against taking matters into your own hands and procuring one of the shop’s step ladders in order to get a better look at this kitchen Mecca’s wares. That way lies some quite reprimanding. Unfortunate bollocking aside, Chef’s Hat is a must-​visit for anyone that loves to cook.

Walking into Chef’s Hat you are greeted with a wall to wall selection of quality cookware products. Located just opposite the iconic South Melbourne Market you can pick up everything you need to cook a restaurant quality dish and then pop across the road to access the freshest ingredients to go with them!
Chef’ Hat originally only sold their items to wholesale customers, and then in 2003 they opened their doors to the general public. And thank god they did! There is everything from bakeware and glassware to electrical items and cookbooks allowing you to create an A-​grade meal right from the comfort of your own kitchen.
