Great coffee, great sangas, great staff. If you’re in South Brisbane and you go elsewhere for your local pick me up you’ve got rocks in your head.

It’s time to update this review because since I last told Unilocal of Two Trees the dynamic-duo of Mim & Jordan have grown and blossomed into more than their original space could contain. There’s no time for a montage but to wrap up: they moved to a new space on Merivale Street, they rebranded, they decked out the new space and have just redesigned it again, they launched a tightly-edited food menu featuring a delicious brioche breakfast burger and a killer Reuben, they partnered with coffee roasters to offer filter, pour over and their house blend from Odyssey Project. And next is a small bar…

I had previously been to Two Trees at its Vulture Street address and while that space and fit out had a certain charm my breakfast experience was disappointing — wasn’t a big fan of having to make my own toast(a first world problem I know!). I have now visited TT at its new Merivale St location twice — once for a sit down Latte and today for a take away Mocha. Both beverages are well up to the mark and in fact my Mocha was one of the best I have tried locally — not sickly sweet or too milky like many — a grown up taste which reminded me of the Colombian Mocha I tried recently just up the road at Café Del Patron. The only negative comment I would make is that the traffic noise was quite noticeable when I stopped in for a latte on my first visit — but it was peak hour so I suspect that would ease off during the day. There is growing completion in this area with Palador Fumior close by, two new cafes beneath Station 16 also in Merivale and Peel Street Kitchen soon to open its doors — so I wish Two Trees luck in this new location.

A hidden gem of Brisbane. Seriously the BEST coffee I’ve ever had. Mim and Jordan have moved to a new location but the service, coffee and treats are the still the same if not better. I truly see big amazing things for this pair. Do yourself a favour and get the best coffe your tastebuds will ever consume.

So things have changed a little at Two Trees over the past few months. With the new fit out Mim and Jordan have refined the café to focus on what they do best — deliver some of the freshest and most flavorsome coffee in Brisbane city. Cold press and espresso are still the kings, but there are plans to introduce aero press and pour over styles soon. They have also started serving Prana Chai(which is absolutely delicious), and there are talks of changing over to The Odyssey Project blend. While this means no more set breakfast or lunch menu, they still offer a daily range of baked goods, and the masters of waffles that are The Iron Ladies have begun serving their renowned waffles on Friday and Saturday mornings. Jordan and Mim have also begun serving«Bacon Butties» — bacon and caramelised onion on toasted sour dough(damn delicious), on weekends. The Wandering Elephant has also begun stopping by once a week to serve up some fantastic curries and salads, though the exact day changes, and it’s best to check their Facebook page to see when they are in. Big things are on the horizon for these two, and things can only grow in a decidedly upward direction for Two Trees.

Hot Saturday morning, I’ve already had breakfast but I need to stop off somewhere for a drink before hitting the markets, Two Trees Espresso Bar is the place. I tried one of their cold press coffee and it was delish! $ 5, comes in a glass bottle and a straw, good tasting coffee, right amount of sweetness, refreshing and lovey pit stop. Its a small galley style venue right next to the Happy Cabin store on Vulture Street. The furnishings are eclectic and work wonderfully within the space. They also showcase some decorations from Mossy Antlers(which you can buy) on the table — awesome glass bowls filled with moss and venus fly traps etc! The young couple which own/run the place are always wonderfully pleasant despite running around in the heat! Definitely recommend this place fo sureeee!

Me: «Do you guys do discounts for keep cups?» Him: «Hmm. Do we? We haven’t really talked about that yet. What do you reckon?» Her: «Yeah, why not.» Awesome. Easy done. I’m a fan. Unfortunately I didn’t have my reusable cup with me when I stopped in, and I felt like karma had its way with me because the takeaway cup I got instead wouldn’t fit the lid correctly and ended up spilling everywhere. Still, the worker bees were absolutely charming and I’m sad I don’t live around the corner from here any more.

Just a little more then a month old, this little nook adjoining the Happy Cabin on Vulture street is a sweet little corner to relax in. Sporting amazingly beautifully reclaimed furnishings as well as some homely pieces, I can’t really think of a better way to spend a lazy Saturday morning. The service is lovely, and so is the coffee. Serving the rich Mambo blend, each coffee is beautifully crafted by the owners. I’ve noticed they carry some coldpress coffee as well — I will probably give them a go… at some point.
