First and last time to eat there. The service was really bad — couldnt recommend any wine and didnt know much about what was in the food we wanted to order. Then when the food came out to was horrible, we order a serves 4 people course, and the only eatable food was the sweet and sour pork, the garlic veggies and the rice(which was nothing special). Everything we ate was spicy, even tho we didnt get any curry based food. The satay beef smelt so bad that we couldnt even eat it. Overall disappointed and not worth the money. Not very good value for money.

Paid $ 20 for a disappointing pad thai — literally just rice noodles and tomato sauce, with thin, boiled chicken strips on top. No flavour. Truly displeasing for $ 20! Would expect the same dish from a cheap takeaway store. Also the waitress did not ask how our meal was. Some good points — fast service, yummy large spring rolls as the entreé. The other mains on the menu looked great — try those, not the pad thai.

In basically an upscale food court. Food was fine but generic and uninspired. Curries were fine but not as good as from any grocery store. Massaman was way too sweet. Fish cakes were bland. No spice dish??? Basically everything seemed to have come out of a can… Busy and waiters very inattentive.

This place is interesting. The staff don’t seem to care as much as they should about things. I waited about 10 minutes to be shown to my seat and waited even longer to order my meal. Waiting time was about 7 minutes. I received my meal and found a bug mid meal. Very disappointed and very turned off by stir fry to this day. I’m sure it has huge potential and I do hope that someone has a lovely experience here. It’s not for me, but it’s not to say that something good can’t happen for someone else. As the saying goes«bad things happen to good people(or restaurants!!!)»

It’s a Malaysian-Thai food restaurant in the city centre. My partner and I have been here twice. Location: it’s in Southbank. City centre. Pretty good location. Easy access and easy to find this place. These 2 times visit by my partner and I were always tight together with Southbank cinema. The first one we had lunch here before cinema session, the second one is for dinner after. Appearance: for lunch time, it looks dead and not attractive. But dinner time the place looks much nicer since all the lights and heater are on. More people also dining here. I like the look of night time here. Food: Pretty average. Nothing amazing so far with the ones I’ve tried. Dried chilli stir fry chicken/prawn is one of my favourite here even though not the best. Satay skewer is so small portion, not worth the money. Last one, chicken sweet sauce is quite nice, big portion but not my favourite since I don’t really like too sweet meal. Service is real good. The waitresses/waiters are very friendly. They great us really nice and let us choose the table. I would come back there again next time and try more dish. Let me know your favourite dish so I can try that too :)

I’ll cut to the chase. It just wasn’t good and I won’t bother going again. The service was poor. Our waiter seemed as if helping us in any way outside of placing our food on the table was outside of his scope of work. He was lazy, came across as very unprofessional, did not know the menu, and left a bad taste in my mouth… just like the food. The food. Bland, boring, cheap, a waste of money. I ate it because I was hungry, and also because I did not believe the restaurant staff were capable of taking the food back to the kitchen and bringing me back a plate of properly cooked and seasoned food. It wasn’t disgusting, it was a disgrace to Asian cuisine. Kind of a fast food version of Asian food. The positives: Location

If you are in the mood for Thai or Malaysian cuisine in Southbank, you’re in luck with Satay Hut. This contemporary Asian restaurant serves many popular Thai and Malaysian dishes. Although, not a very unique menu, their food is quite delicious. One of the most outstanding dishes which I’ve had the pleasure of eating(while holding back tears from the heat) is their Jungle Curry($ 24.90 with seafood). Ohh, it is quite the winner in terms of its serving, presentation, ingredients and authentic flavour. If you are also a fan of hot food, you should most definitely give their Jungle Curry a go. Although, I might add, I’ve been told my threshold for withstanding hot food is quite low, so if you’re used to extremely hot food, perhaps this isn’t hot enough for you… But I’m sure you can ask for more chilli’s. The customer service here is quite good. The staff are friendly and serve the dishes quickly. The ambience is very nice with a pagoda in the middle of the restaurant making it seem as though the location is actually in Thailand. Although, because it is located further down one end of Little Stanley St it doesn’t get many customers. Prices are higher considering the food is quite similar to other Thai/Malay restaurants, but considering the location and atmosphere, it does make sense for the prices to be up by about $ 7 a meal.

Until I actually tried it, this Thai restaurant always looked empty and uninviting with bored waitresses looking hopefully into the faces of everyone who passed by. Now, though, I have been back many times to try more of their amazing curries. The Thai Red Curry is so good my partner and I fight over the last morsel every time and usually end up furtively licking the bowls clean. It is pretty expensive for a Thai restaurant but it is in Southbank after all and the food is so worth it.
