I have been waiting to write this review for a few days now, I really want to do this place justice. Walking along the streets of south bank with a baby in my arms, ‘My Sweetopia’ caught my eye. Each table was set with a cutsie bunch of flowers in a jar, at funny table tops with fun quotes on top. Before I know it I’m hovering at the door with baby running around. I read the menu, i can’t help but stay! Poached Pear Porridge and«the biggest chai you’ve got please» is what I order. I was not wrong about the sizing situation. I’m almost certain I had about ½ a litre of almond milk in my bowl. I am still stunned and excited that I drank something from a pink bowl. Before we even made it outside they had made and brought out a baby chino complete with a smiley face on top. Politely the waiter allowed me to take a seat and presented an eager baby with chocolately milk. He was so happy to see a little drink just for him, so i was very happy. Next came my porridge and chai! Yum. It tasted like porridge(bonus), the chai was super sweet, the view was lovely, the sun was shining and all I want to do is go back. I loved it. I’m 100% a fan and I have definitely followed their instagram(check it out here: ) I’m impressed, going back, and left with only good thoughts. Peace.

I’m a huge sucker for mint-flavoured sweet treats, so on my birthday my sister snuck over to My Sweetopia and brought me home a couple of their mint chocolate cupcakes. Needless to say, they were incredible. The cupcakes really were gorgeous; I can understand why many people have an obsession with baking if it means you can create culinary masterpieces like those found at My Sweetopia. On a level of freshness and presentation, I’d say these even rate better than the Cupcake Parlour cupcakes. The cakes here are rich, but not overbearing, and the icing is light and fluffy. I devoured mine at home over the countertop, but if you’re looking for a place to chill out around Southbank with friends, you can settle in with a pot of tea and your chosen cakes in store. Just make sure it’s not raining, because there isn’t much undercover seating.

As a unashamed lover of sugar, I was pretty sure me and My Sweetopia would get along famously. …And I was right. This sweet ‘lil store is located handily on grey street and makes for a great place for coffee and cupcakes. The imagination that has gone into some of their cakes is pretty impressive(Think Turkish delight, Red velvet and lemon meringue.) And although I find it can be a bit hit and miss with some of the recipes (e.g. the expresso cake that doesn’t taste like expresso) I really can’t go past their rich Chocolate and Hazelnut(Superb flavours!) or the many macaroons on offer. With outdoor and indoor seating available, this place is perfect for a late-night sugar hit or to catch up with friends.
