Seacrest is an invaluable slice of green in Sorrento. When I think about this park I think«one BIG oval.» This park is really a continuation of what Robin Park started in the cricket department. Opposed to Robin Park– decked out with caged pitches, Seacrest is where cricket gets real. The trees line the park, albeit slightly further out than the 4 and 6 line, however they give the impression of tireless fielders. Perhaps that’s my imagination building up atmosphere but I love going passed this park on the weekend. Th

I live across the road from Seacrest Park and often go walking there. It’s one of the dog’s favourites, and clearly the favourite of a great many other local canines, at least if the sheer number of animals there on any given afternoon is anything to go by. That’s during the week. On weekends, the cricketers take over, and while I’m not sure what grade these guys are in their skills or lack thereof would suggest that they’re social players in it for the love of the game. The crack of cork and leather against willow, and the boozy appeals that occasionally follow it, is a common sound in Seacrest Park of a Saturday afternoon. Saturday evenings can be a bit rowdy, but it’s always harmless. The cricket club house has the usual accoutrements, including a children’s playground and cricket nets. There’s a soccer goal at the northern end of the park, though I’ve never seen anyone playing soccer there.(I tried to do chin-ups on the goal’s top bar once and failed dismally.) The park is also perfect for early evening strolls, with or without the pets, and one is liable to see numerous couples using it in precisely that way most days of the week.
