Great location, and excellent service. Had my birthday breakfast here and the host is awesome, really friendly and the food is the best in Brisbane. Highly recommend.

I had lunch at Matthew Thomas today and it was quite crowded but service was efficient. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and it was quite tasty. For lunch I ordered the pot pie,(which I later found out was deconstructed) the meat was quite tender and the sauce was very rich. Although it would’ve been better as a regular pie. I had quite an enjoyable lunch today and I may go back again soon.

This is my favourite place to go for breakfast, brunch and coffee in Sandgate/Shorncliffe. Housed in the old Masonic Hall on Eagle Terrace and overlooking the bay, the indoor and outdoor seating makes this ideal all year round. The service is fabulous. The staff are attentive and are always smiling. They’re happy to stop for a chat, and really personalise the dining experience. The nature of the staff adds to the casual ambiance of the place. The food here is great. Simple but so delicious. My favourite for breakfast is definitely the eggs benedict. The eggs are cooked to perfection, the salmon is fresh and the hollandaise is home made. But honestly, I’d recommend anything from their menu. Breakfast is an all day affair, so you don’t need to panic about getting there before 11am. Great for lazy Sunday mornings. They use Toby’s Estate coffee, which I love. The baristas know how to make a great coffee and I’m never disappointed. Matthew Thomas make their own fudge, on site. Delightfully creamy and full of flavour. It’s difficult to say no.
