Turtle Den is classy and a little gem for East Ringwood. With an extensive menu and banquet options it’s great for a nice dinner out or business dinner. Try a banquet and you won’t walk away hungry but be mindful of a small ‘wine by the glass’ list(No Pinot Noir which was dissapointing) Was a little perplexed by the AMEX leather bill sleeves, when they do not accept AMEX at the restaurant.

After walking past this place every day to get to the train, we decided to try it out for dinner. They don’t deliver, but the fact that many people were getting take away mid-week, encouraged us we’d made a good decision to try it. The waiting/ordering area has their menu on display at the front counter and have some seats to accommodate people waiting for take-away orders. We ordered the fried wontons, mongolian beef, fried rice and peking beef. We were told it’d be about a 10 minute wait and while we didn’t time it, it wasn’t long at all. They gave us a large bag of prawn crackers with our order. The wontons were light and crisp! Sometimes they can be over-fried, too hard or feel heavy. The main dishes were delicious. Some restaurants that have a mixed veg/meat option sometimes give you all the veg and very little meat, but here it was very generously balanced. Inside appeared to be very tidy and looked like it could accommodate a few groups. The staff were very friendly and I have to give a big kudos to them for happily getting a walk-in train farer a glass of water when he came in to ask for that and nothing else. They also take call-in orders for pick-ups, which we may do next time because we’re definitely going back. We may or may not be ordering 40 wontons and nothing else… SOGOOD!
