Each piece of furniture is individually handcrafted by local artisans in South America. Made from reclaimed timber ranging in age from 90 to 300 years. Zuku’s furniture includes timber dining tables, coffee tables, dining chairs, consoles, buffets, sideboards, bedroom and much more. I was drawn in to Zuku’s multi-​roomed vortex of wonderful furniture, ceramics and beautiful homewares recently. It left me feeling like I ought to buy a big house and kit it out with beautiful handmade things. You know… like a grown up.
Big carved wooden beds, japanese ceramics (and some from an Aussie favourite — Mud), delicate cotton textiles, gigantic brown glass jars, and all sorts of other lovely homewares — the sort of thing that you can just imagine featured in a glossy home reno magazine centre spread. It’s exactly the kind of place I love, and is high on my list of places to go when needing to buy a homey gift for friends.
