I’ve had dinner previously but had brunch for the first time at Keppos today and it lived up to standards! The food selection is fantastic — the Mediterranean/middle Eastern influence gives the menu that little bit of edge and extra flavour in comparison to the usual breakfast choices. I had the shakshuka baked eggs with tahini and olives which was so delicious and comforting — cooked to perfection and the ideal meal for an Autumn morning. My friend had the Keppos salmon benedict and she was equally impressed. The first coffee was a bit cold but the lovely staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant is very quaint with a cool vibe and perfect for a couple or a cosy dinner for 2 to max 6 people but the space is not ideal for large groups or kids. The food is impeccable — beautifully presented, quality fresh product and vegetarian options.

Vastly overpriced for what you get. $ 6 a small bottle of san pellagrino? REALLY guys? We ordered too much and the waiter didn’t tell us to slow down. The food was good, tiny portions. Will not return.

Lunchtime. Busy as always so had to wait for a table. Nice but no where near as good as last time, 1year ago. Had ground lamb kofta style rolls and sugar snap salad. Good staff and feel.

A hidden gem in Kepos street. I like their indoor & outdoor setting. When we reached we thought there was massive line of people waiting but only took us 5mins because they have a decent space inside. For brunch i ordered Moroccan lamb and my friend had smoked salmon on eggs benedict. I thought lamb for brekky will be weird but they were great and really tasty. I wish they could add more side salad because servings were not enough for me. For desert we had churros and soft baked brownies. The churros were just ok but it has sugar slathered on it which i am not a fan of. I like the brownies best, a bit bitter which i find really nice! Oh i love their coffee too!

I had a lunch there — had ocean trout with freekeh & asparagus salads. Food was tasty buy just a bit too salty for me. I will have to ask for salt to be reduced by 50% next time. Services were good and the waitress was very friendly & smiling! But they serve my meal & coffee at the same time — a bit lack of thought. Shall I drink coffee first or my meal first? Or at the same time? It’s not a wine so I wouldn’t drink coffee and meal at the same time though!

Wow! Amazing Tuna salad. Changes the definition of Tuna + salad as far as I’m concerned. Perfectly cooked and just damn well done. If I lived in Australia I would be back for more!

Kepos Street Café specialises in Middle eastern themed dining. They offer breakfast and Lunch everyday with evening dinner being served Wednesday through to Saturday. I was with a group celebrating a birthday bash and we opted for the banquet style menu which offered the table a chance to sample the majority of the menu selectively. The offerings included brasserie bread sourdough with hazelnut dukkah, dates, goats cheese crumbed with pistachio, cauliflower salad, fish kefta, saikou salmon, roasted black Angus steak, garlic fries. That list is so long it should be review over already. All the dishes were of a high standard and none would be bad choices if you ordered from the regular menu yourself but some of the stand out dishes for me were — dates served with goats cheese. Really delicious and something sweet and tasty that complimented each other well. — Steak was delicious and 100 day age feed, so it was worth the wait. The steak was served with a beautiful pear barley salad. — Saikou Salmon was my favourite of all the dishes. Cooked beautifully, outside was just right while the inside remained a little undercooked. Dish was served on a classy frying skillet. Salmon was on top of a pea risotto which was equally as impressive. Believe it or not that’s not all because dessert was to follow which was Churros with salted Caramel. The Churros were served out of a brown bag on a serving platter. Amazing once again. The second dessert was a soft baked chocolate cake which was like a brownie on top while underneath had a mousse like texture. This dish was served with ice cream. Overall top class restaurant based on food quality as there was no bad dishes being served. The staff were quick to bring out the new dishes. Only slight fault is that you only have 2 hours to eat what I can only describe as a truck load of food. The restaurant sits two groups for dinner one at 6pm and another sitting at 8:15 so towards the end we were kind of being rushed out. If you take that into consideration and are prepared for a degustation your going to love the place. Would definitely consider coming here again to sample the breakfast menu perhaps.

Excellent choice for brunch! Their falafel sandwich is perfect for a cold rainy day. Their service is friendly and appropriate and their coffee is great as well. Would definitely recommend and I am definitely coming back!

The $ 8 corkage fee per person for BYO is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, but I can’t find much each to fault this place for– amazing food and a great night out! As the entire menu looked delicious to our group we opted to go with the $ 55 tasting menu, and were all more than stuffed by the end of the meal. You’ll start with goat cheese and pistachio stuffed dates(amaze balls), and head into some homemade bread and hummus after that. The bread was great, but if I went back I’d skip this to not fill up before all of the other great dishes! One of my favourite dishes of the evening was the cauliflower salad that combines the veggie, pomegranate seeds, dried cranberries, wheat, mint and parsley, as well as an acidic dressing. Fantastic! The $ 55 preset menu also comes with two desserts– churros with caramel sauce and a gluten free chocolate cake. By this point in the meal you’ll be absolutely stuffed, so give the chocolate cake a miss and devour the churros instead. Great place, will definitely be back!

Uhhh… freakin delicious? This place has been on my list for a while and since I moved into the neighbourhood, there hasn’t been an easier chance to try it out. There’s a big middle eastern/mediterranean influence in the menu and it’s downright delicious. When we got there on Saturday around 11am, the wait was only about 5 minutes before we were seated outside. My coffee was great, no complaints there, same goes for service… perhaps it can be hit or miss but no complaints here either. I ordered the Bacon and Egg roll… it’s massive. I would normally complain about not being able to eat this with my hands because for me anything that comes between two buns needs to be eaten with your hands. This is far too big and messy to do so, but that’s OK because it’s pretty damn diddly delicious. My partner ordered one of the salads(don’t remember which one) but she had absolutely zero complaints as well. Would love to try the rest of their menu so I will be back for sure.

Have eaten here quite a few times now and the food is fantastic — spot on each time. I also like the fact that their menu is not as mainstream as most places. Some familiar dishes, and some unique dishes — but the flavours are absolutely amazing across the board. Unfortunately, they’re let down by their coffee — it’s basically hit and miss, as it depends which barista you get. When it’s good, it’s amazing(and you gotta love a place that does BOTH good food and good coffee — so rare!), but when the coffee fails, then it’s so disappointing.

This is the second time we came here and to be honest, we didn’t enjoy it the first time round. As with usual«well known» brunch places we had to wait for around half an hour before we were seated. This to me is the norm, but waiting in cold rainy weather is a different story. Parking was hard as it’s located around local community so first in best dressed. We ordered three dishes — Tuna Salad, Fried Chicken Burger and Lamb and Chickpea Stew(trust me, they had much BETTER names but forgot what they were!). The salad was very flavoursome and hit the right spot at the right time. Generous servings of seared tuna mixed in Mediterranean style greens and a good tangy dressing. Did I mention the near perfect half cooked egg? It was rainy so I thought the Lamb Stew would do the trick and it completely did it’s job. With a hint of chili the lamb was cooked just right(mind you, without that LAMBTASTE) and the garlic bread sticks complimented the stew very well. The Fried Chicken was OK, a bit dry and lacked flavour. There wasn’t enough sauce for the whole burger despite the soft inside/crunchy outside brioche. The chips that came as a side was epic, felt like double fried(love it) and remember to ask for either tomatoey sauce or aioli. .if only it was truffle infused. Didn’t have any drinks as I remember I didn’t enjoy their juices or coffee. Maybe next time when I’m feeling adventurous again! Can’t wait to try their Autumn menu when it’s out.. and if it’s out.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. We waited an hour to get a table, while killing time at the nearby Whole Foods grocer on Danks St. That’s cool, it was our choice to wait. When we got seated, I noticed that the servers are very transactional and cold. Like they’re there to get you in and out, nothing more. Having staff that are disengaged like that really impacts everything, as I didn’t get excited by any of their recommendations. I felt like they didn’t even want to be there. Food wise, we ordered: falafels w tahini, the beef burger, a cauliflower salad and a chocolate & halva brownie, plus coffees/juice. The verdict: the tahini dip was smooth and tasty, without it I thought the falafels were too salty. None of the other mains really stood out. The cauliflower salad was more like a chopped salad but it had a lot of liquid. The brownie was unexpected as the sesame halva added a really yummy texture, this was actually the best part of the meal.

This place — for breakfast, lunch or dinner– never disappoints! To my delight, there are new items on the breakfast menu. The cous cous with fruit and yoghurt is delicious! Awesome fresh juices and good coffee too.

Ah, this food! A colourful and exotic spread that nourishes my obsession for Middle Eastern cooking. Tahini, pomegranate, harissa, hummus… all things I adore! Left-of-field brunches, baked goods and taste-tickling salads –also all things I adore. And it’s presented in such an appetising fashion. If you’re in an am-I-hungry-am-I-not-hungry mood; share in the Tel Aviv Falafel with green tahini or one of their exotic dips. Then wash that garlicky goodness down with a Strawberry Rosewater Fizz. Although KSK sits near a car dealership and busy intersection, the cul-de-sac garden serves well to preserve its corner-café loveliness. Staff are great too — helpful and patient. I can’t wait to get back here and try everything on the menu. This kitchen has got me dreaming of holidays to the Middle East.

Quaint café in the suburbs of Redfern, a real gem with middle eastern flair. Falafel anything is amazeballs! I had a few too many bites if my friends felafel sandwich… Not that I didn’t had my own amazing dish — Eggplant salad with Seared Tuna smothered in egg yolk. Filling and satisfying meal without feeling like rabbit food. Cannot wait to come back to do breakfast!

Lovely coffee, sourced from the Grounds in Alexandria. Will be back to try the food and oh my god the selection of cakes. This place would be great at around 3pm on a work day when you start to go downhill and need a burst of energy. I want to try the brownie with chocolate mascarpone icing. Drool. Friendly staff, despite being packed at 2pm on a Sunday.

I always joke that I won’t travel out of Surry Hills /Darlo for brunch on the weekends, but Kepos is one of those places that are well worth breaking that rule. I had the zucchini fritters with salmon, and they were perfect. I seriously kept talking about them to people that following week. I was dying to come back and have them again, we went the other weekend but the only bummer was to discover that breakfast ends mid-day. I didn’t get my fritters but happy to say they do a lovely lunch menu as well. I also recommend the homemade lemonade, it’s made with a simple syrup, carbonated water, fresh mint and lemons served in a glass jam jar. They seem to get quite busy, but they turn through tables quickly and are quite organised with the wait list. Worth putting your name down for a table and hanging around.

This place is seriously Da BOMB! The experience went a little like this: Rocked up at 12:30pm on a Friday arvo, it was chockers out the front, were prepared for a wait but were escorted out into the air-conditioned courtyard!(Which is lucky because that plastic roof would get super hot in summer…) We received our menu’s(FYI it isn’t an all day breakfast) and started off with coffee which was delicious(they use The Grounds of Alexandria Coffee beans). Had a real caramel/nutty after taste and just went down a treat– my+ 2 guests agreed! We had the shakshukka(soft oven baked eggs in a savoury tomato stew) with a coriander tahini, also shared the smoked salmon salad and falafel burger. All the flavours were just spot on and complimented each-other extremely well. The only downside here was that the service was a bit haphazard. We had to flag down our waiter to get coffee orders in + again to order food. That is probably the only thing that stops it from being a 5 star review. Definitely worth a visit — we will be back!

American’s first time in Sydney– Studying Abroad Morgan ordered a tall black and a smoked salmon salad with potato, soft boiled egg, spinach, olives, and sesame seeds. It was gorgeous. I had two flat whites(the coffee was the best I’ve had in Australia) and something called a «soft baked egg and tomato shakshuka…» It was nuts. Shakshuka is «a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions, often spiced with cumin,» says Wikipedia. It was served with coriander tahini and a slice of warm sourdough. The flavors were all perfectly balanced, and awesome. Stuffed, we sat speechless. Then decided to order the heavenly looking strawberry tart we had seen when we came in. It had two puffy pastry biscuits sandwiching fresh strawberries in a sweet crème. It was airy and light and gone in one minute. I’m drooling writing about it. The total bill came to $ 47AUD, which isn’t bad considering it’s Sydney and we enjoyed it so much. Plus, tipping is not a requirement. If this were a restaurant in the States, we would’ve tipped like mad anyways.
