Sign says«voted in the top 10 burgers» by the Daily telegraph. My flavour of the month is burgers. Im on a burger mission around town. Lard help my waistline, and forgive me for I have sinned in gluttony. Dougies grill looks pretty unassuming from the outside, all bar the afore mentioned signage. It never looks very busy. I’ve been here once before and thought it was O.K. That was before my crusade for the holy burger grail. The staff there were, although attentive immediately, rather non-plussed by their job. I asked if the chilli she offered was hot or not, and she just shrugged. I opted for a little bit, and Im glad I did… i assume this is Dougie’s sauce which is mentioned on the menu. I got the Aussie burger which costs $ 7.95. Seems steep, but when we compare to most gourmet burger prices, which I shall mention in other reviews, this is but a fraction of the cost for a burger, that to my mind was excellent. I admit I added more mayo when I got back to the lunch room, but that’s just a personal preference and I didnt ask for extra. Burger tasted chargrilled but with the right amount of seasoning. It doesnt look at all like a fancy burger, but trust me, it tasted awesome. it contained all the things youd expect from an aussie burger aka beetroot and BBQ sauce. Conveniently near the train station. Stop in next time youre in Kogtown. you wont regret it.
