I have walked by this place many times but never thought about eating here til I saw a review from a friend. So I decided to give it a try. I was really impressed by the fish and chips. Not greasy and cooked very well. We got a family pack that consist of 4 cod, 1 calamari order and chips for $ 26. It was well worth the price and feed 3 with a piece of cod left over. Good portions. There are a few table to eat there but we got it to go. I would be interested to try the fried chicken on my next visit.

Good value for money. Portions are large and the good is good. Freshly cooked and the presentation is as good as the content of a takeaway box could be.

This is my go-to fish & chip shop close to where I live. There are other shops nearby but after trying out some, I settled on this one due to their very friendly service and great quality food. I often buy their calamari and mix them up with some salad at home — delicious. Fish burgers are great value too if you’re on a budget. And certainly much better quality than what you’d get at McDs.

I’ve lived up the road from this place for almost two years now, and god knows why I haven’t gone here before! I guess it just looked like another fish and chip place. Well I’m very glad to be wrong! The food here is absolutely fantastic. One of the nicest chicken burgers I’ve ever eaten, like a home-made KFC, and the chips are a perfect combination of crispy and chunky. You honestly can’t go wrong. Service was quick and friendly. It’s hard to say much else, it’s simple and basic, but done really well. When it comes to burgers and chips, quality speaks for itself.

This is a killer little fish and chips shop. The bacon and egg burger is a classic and tastes as much. They’re happy to do custom orders too if you’re willing to battle the mild english-as-a-second-language barrier. A warm chicken salad sandwich with mayo and egg. YES. I’m here almost weekly for lunch. Their chips are double fried or something and therefore DELICIOUS. I notice that another reviewer mentions they recognise her voice when ordering. Mine too. And if I haven’t been for a few weeks they’re only too happy to see me again. These guys are lovely. I can’t praise them enough.

There are quite a few other fish and chip shops in this area, but don’t be fooled: this is the one to go to. Everything at Red Ocean Seafoods outclasses your typical fish and chip shop. It’s not that the concept is particularly different. In fact, Red Ocean seems to pride itself on just being your traditional fish and chip shop. However, they seem to have gotten the memo(that a lot of other places haven’t) that traditional and no-fuss needn’t mean greasy, grimy, and lacking in freshness. The shop always smells clean which is a good sign when it comes to fish-serving establishments. The chips are hot and crisp, not limp and squeaky. There’s a good range of things to order apart from the seafood. There are burgers, chicken, your usual sides, and a good selection of drinks. Service is quick and efficient, and comes with a smile that adds to the neighbourhood vibe that Red Ocean Seafoods has got going on. It’s always full of locals getting takeaway having strolled here with kids and/or dogs in tow. Red Ocean Seafood offers the traditional, comforting corner fish and chip shop experience, while not skimping on quality and freshness.

It is impressive that a fish and chip shop can be celebrated more for its chicken and chips rather than its ocean delights. You’ll hear this often in regard to Red Ocean Seafoods. The chicken is good, and you’ll like it even more if you’re into chicken snacks that are reminiscent of Colonel Sanders. Personally, I’m more of a seafood lass. Do not be deterred by the fact that there is no water anywhere in sight or mind in Red Hill. The fish does still appear fresh. A single fisherman’s basket will set you back $ 9 and it’s more than satisfying. The family basket is $ 24.90. Jeebus! The service is super friendly, and you won’t be left waiting long if you order ahead from home and take a leisurely stroll to go pick up your feast. It doesn’t feel like a fish and chip shop in that it resides in a shopping complex on a busy arterial road that leads to the city. However, you can still take away your paper wrapped goods and stroll home substituting the sound of cars for the sound of ocean, and pretend the concrete you’re walking on is sand.

I’ve never actually eaten a chicken burger I enjoy, despite years of protests from friends that the latest popular burger will be «different, I swear». The fact that I’m saying I enjoy the chicken burgers from Red Ocean Seafood speaks volumes. The people are friendly; the couple at the helm particularly so. The shop owners not only know my name and recognise my voice on the phone when I order take-away, they also know the name of my friends and relatives and our connections to each other. It is possible they are psychic. The best thing about this place is the chips. I’m going to go out there and brandish the oft-used trope«the best in Brisbane», even though we all know I can’t have visited every chip shop in Brisbane(side bar: could having actually done that been Guinness Book-worthy?). Regardless, the chips are consistently excellent, not too fatty, fantastic with the chicken salt and there’s usually a number of soggy ones, which are my favourite type of chip. This is really a take-away shop, although there is a set-up of patio furniture outside, usually occupied by those waiting for their meal. Take my advice: don’t be one of those dodgy-looking guys hanging out around the front of the Red Hill Shops. Order in advance: pick up the phone and they almost never take longer to cook your meal than«six, seven minutes».(Six, Seven Minutes is actually what my household calls the place.) Apart from friendly staff and delicious unhealthy food(though robust, healthy sandwiches are also offered), I should add that the meals tend to be less fatty than most other take-away shops. The prices are reasonable and if you want to buy a drink, it’s cheaper than the neighbouring 7 – 11. And if you must order in person and wait, there’s a community noticeboard there with posters for you to stare at in order to avoid eye contact with all the other people listlessly waiting.
