Lunch specials are all $ 7.80(!!!) AND they bring you a pot of tea upon arrival — for free. I’ve been here twice now and was satisfied with the food I had for the price I paid. This place is definitely not authentic Chinese food and resembles more fast food Chinese similar to what you would find in a shopping mall but in a restaurant setting. I’ve had the mapo tofu and the sweet and sour pork, both of which were good enough. This place gets pretty packed around noon so I’m not the only one who thinks it’s a great deal!

I live in Randwick and shop near the Coles so I’ve passed by this place heaps of times. It looked interesting and I was craving some egg noodle soup so decided to come here for lunch. There was no chopsticks or silverware on the table when we sat down. The staff was friendly and greeted us with menus and a minute later, came back and asked if we were ready before we even looked at the menu. I will say that the lunch specials are pretty good — $ 7.95 for an array of dishes and comes with complimentary hot tea — which is rare for Sydney. I ordered the combination noodle soup and that included seafood, barbecue pork and chicken. You can choose either egg or rice noodle. My date ordered the pork spare ribs. My soup came out in about 5 – 7 minutes with a soup spoon but never got any chopsticks. Asked the waitress for it and got it, but my date’s food still wasn’t there. It came maybe 3 minutes later, which was a bit annoying. My soup had a lot of stuff in it — meat — pork, chicken and seafood — prawns and squid and a good amount of veggies — mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, chinese greens, but the broth was a bit bland. I had to ask for chili sauce, which made it better. My date’s ribs were chewy and he didn’t really enjoy it. Overall this place is a bit average — glad we didn’t pay too much for the food. I was full but not overly satisfied. Not sure I’d come back.

You have to go to Choy’s to see the ceiling, I know that is an odd way to start a review, but it’s true The style of Choy’s is so well thought out, it effectively uses Red throughout the restaurant, there is traditional Chinese art along the walls and they have beautiful wooden tables each painted with a Chinese character. But the ceiling has huge red columns running from one end to the other, it is such a great idea, kind of industrial chic. What I most recommend at Choy’s is the Banquet, which are reasonably priced, the one I ordered was $ 19.80. which provided me a spring roll, dim sim, chilli king prawns, Mongolian Lamb, pork ribs with plum sauce, honey chicken, stir fried mixed vegetable and both fried rice and boiled rice, everything was delicious, although I couldn’t get through it all, definitely value for money, also Choy’s is licensed, serving cocktails, spirits and very reasonably priced wine. Choy’s is surprisingly reasonable value for such a sophisticated establishment, I would absolutely dine there again.
