I’ve always quite liked Cibo’s range of coffee and sweet delights, so always feel quite confident that when I go in for a bite to eat or a takeaway coffee at any of their numerous locations. I often call into this one on Prospect Road when I’m working across the street at Alfred James. Whilst I’m waiting for my standard order(4 small Lattes) I’ll perhaps sample a small cake or croissant. However, I’ve begun to notice that recently the staff have been ‘off their game’ and finding it very difficult to smile when serving a client. When I walked in here last week I was greeted with«Yes?» Now I know they were busy as it was lunchtime, but surely a greeting of more than one word is customary? When I’d ordered, the young man, without acknowledging it, passed my order to another staff member and walked off to serve someone else. When my order was finally ready I noticed that the Barista was shaking chocolate powder onto my Lattes! When I asked her why she was doing that, she said«Oh. I thought you ordered Cappuccino». No «Sorry» or «I’ll change the order». Unfortunately I was in a hurry and just accepted the wrong order but have vowed not to return to this particular venue. Instead I shall go to the local OTR at the BP servo and get my coffee from there! I always get service with a smile and the coffee is surprisingly delicious!

A good walk from home for my wife and me plus the furry child. Hence we are often to be found here sipping coffee and chewing the fat. Unlike one of the other reviewers I enjoy Cibo coffee. Indeed I didn’t drink coffee until converted in the original Cibo restaurant many years ago, and long before the coffee chain. I love sitting outside in the little square(?rectangle, but I hope you get my drift) between Cibo and the town hall. Possibly too many people take advantage of the outdoors and smoke, but that is their right and I must accept that. The staff are great at providing water for doggies. All up a great addition to the Prospect scene

cibos are so overrated. okay coffee and terrible service with stale food and full of clueless trendies, especially Norwood. wake up people and smell the coffee.

Ok, let’s get this out of the way… I am powered by coffee. There is no question about it. My drink of choice-a large, 4-shot latte, skinny, extra hot, with 3 sweeteners. My average day-2 shots at home, 4 – 8 shots when out and about for the day, then 2 – 4 shots in the evening. If I can’t sleep, I just make myself some coffee and then slip off to zzzzzzzzzzzz. If there is a God, on the 8th day he rested and made himself a Nespresso. ================ So, let me tell you about Cibo Prospect. I had stopped by here many times over the past few years as I drove by on the way to somewhere. Although not a regular, I was always cheerfully greeted, served promptly and they made a great coffee! Now that I have moved to Prospect, I’m a regular. I am often greeted by name and they usually remember my drink, so I don’t even have to order most of the time. And, like always, they make an awesome latte. I am normally not a fan of chain espresso stores. But Cibo Prospect is run like a specialty coffee boutique — only with better service than you get in most of those places. So, whenever I am absolutely certain that I want a great coffee in a place that’s guaranteed to leave me in a better mood than when I arrived, I come here. There is plenty of inside and outside seating, heaters outside in winter, a great staff(I’ve been here often enough to have been served by most, if not all of them) and FREEWIFI. If you care about such things, I can report that they have a large bathroom too, no squeezing into a hobbit style stall to do your business. Parking is plentiful, on-street and in a large, free public lot behind the council offices next door. If you have been to another Cibo and not been happy(like maybe the Cibo in Norwood on the Parade – they can’t even spell the word service there, much less provide it) give the one in Prospect a try. You will not be disappointed. Eat, drink and be merry – but not too much. JD
