The Source Bulk Foods Prahran is the first of it’s kind bulk food concept store in Melbourne. Owners Terry and Brenda brought this to the Melbourne market to make whole foods accessible to everyone and create a community centred on sharing healthy eating and living ideas.

With the huge variety of healthy options available, you almost instantly feel healthier upon walking in the door!
From basic staples like flour (all kinds), grains, pulses, to dried fruits, nuts and snack options, it’s hard not to buy something when visiting. What I really like is they’ve labeled the origin of each product so you can make an informed decision when you’re making your purchase. Plenty of organic and biodynamic options too.
Add friendly and approachable staff into the mix — knowledgeable and offer great advice on how to use some of the goodies you’ve scooped up — really makes it an overall enjoyable visit.
There are some great gift ideas on offer too: kits made up in glass jars for making «life changing» bread, almond milk, and cacao snack balls — makes for an easy and thoughtful gift for the vegan/paleo/gluten free loved ones.

Want nuts… This place has plenty. It also has almost anything else you can imagine from Olive Oils to cleaning products and everything in between including seeds, grains, cereals, flour, rice, paleo products, superfoods, honey, oils, confectionary, yummy snacks, personal care and more. They have over 400 bulk products you can browse.
They have helpful staff and to be honest the only issue i have is that i always leave with more than i intended to because of the selection of yummy goodness. I find myself returning ever couple of days to top up and try new things.
I suggest you get yourself down there and start «scooping»

So, everyone has seen or visited the self serve nuts and dried fruit section at their local supermarket.
Well, times the size & variety by 20!
The Source bulk foods has everything you can think of. From Corn flakes to Kapai Puku to Organic Olive oil to Coffee to Chocolate Freckles. There is around 400 products to buy from.
The concept is really cool as you can buy as much or as little as you would like.
All you need to do is grab a few brown paper bags scoop up your goodies and remember to write down your items code on the bag so it is easier at the checkout.
They also stock jars and bottles for you to buy so you can empty out your bags and put whatever you bought in there.
I found the staff really smiley, chatty and helpful and will definitely be back for more whole food goodness.
