I tend to visit a hair stylist once, grow out the style and have to find somewhere else to go six months down the track when my hair is resembling a mullet from the 80s. As such I rarely see the same stylist twice.
This changed when I visited Rubi and had a great cut care of Emma Lee. My difficultly curly hair was dealt with beautifully and my new low maintenance hairdo was exactly what I wanted. I’ve been three times in a row now and believe me when I say that this is the longest relationship I’ve had with a hair stylist in my life.
High praise! Give them a go.
A loyalty program is available as well which rewards frequent visits.

I like Rubi because they are as good as all the Boutique salons located around the Windsor/​Prahran area but the price for most services is a little bit less. They offer a wide range of services from Keratin Treatments, Hair Extensions, Professional Make Up and of course Cut, Colour and Blow Wave. I have been treated by most of the stylists on staff and they all do an incredible job. I found they really took the time before and during my treatment to make sure they fully understood my requirements and also made sure I was happy with the way it was progressing.
All in all a high quality salon with a great selection of capable stylists on staff, and located right in the middle of Chapel Street there is an elegant and boutique feel to this hair salon without the pretentiousness.

Rubi Hair takes the title for most consistent hairdressing salon in my life. I went there for over three years, and they were great to me. Recently, I felt the need to move on — it’s hard for a hairdressing slut to commit. But don’t let this discourage you, they’re a fantastic salon.
Ask for Mark, and if not Mark then Stella, Katherine, or any of the other New Zealanders will do just fine. They’re all very friendly and nonjudgmental and they’ll all listen to your requests (I know how hair can be precious).
The products they use are really good for your hair, but do be warned they’ll try to sell it to you. A few no’s should do the trick.
All in all it’s a nice salon experience for any budget, and one day I’ll probably regret leaving them and return with my tail between my legs. Until then, take good care of it for me. Oh dear god, what have I done?
