Hands down the best place for coffee and a meal in Picton. Bacon sandwich takeaway when I’m in a rush, but other favourites include their eggs Benedict and GF crepes. Dog friendly. Busy on weekends but with good reason. Would highly recommend.

Popped in for a caffeine fix on our way through town but found ourselves tempted by the lunch menu, some creative options at fantastic prices. I had an iced coffee and the sumac-spiced chicken salad, very filling for $ 13 and such freshflavours. My company had one of the burger options and was incredibly happy, another had the pastrami sandwich(and was also very impressed by his coffee). Very keen to return for the breakfast menu, which we missed out on by about 40 minutes. I guess the only negative is that it’s not very atmospheric — the furnishing is very minimalist and the sound echoes a lot which is a shame if there’s a table of loud people there at the time.

A breakfast or lunch at R Coffee Co. is the best reason to escape Sydney for a day(or a whole weekend!) and come down the beautiful Picton. The coffee is second-to-none, and Ryan the barista/owner is always up for a chat about which grind he’s picked for the café(and this guy knows coffee like nobody I have ever met before — he’s like a coffee-sommelier!) The food is always fresh and delicious, this café really does feel like they’ve taken one of the best Sydney cafes and transplanted it into a lovely little country town. The staff are really friendly(an essential for any decent café) and the décor has a neat country charm to it. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Southern Highlands, and nothing comes close to R Coffee Co for food, service, atmosphere, and most importantly — coffee! Five stars.

You don’t expect to find a gem of a place in a country town like Picton but this place is special. The sign at the front says«Caution seriously good coffee inside» and you laugh as you enter. Well it’s amazingly correct. No frills seating and environment but the coffee is brilliant. Pity about the breakfasts finishing at 11.30
