Went here for the famous Day with Thomas event. They had a lot of stands and bbq on as well as a mini train. The big trains were dressed up as Thomas trains and there were lots of kids and adults as apparently it’s a once a year thing. We went on the train ride, which was nice but you don’t get off at the end, just sit there and then the train heads back the other way. I don’t even know how far we went! To be honest it was a bit pointless. The trains inside the museum were many and varied. Nice to see all the history. Way too many kids around, and ones throwing tantrums! The mini train was a hit with long lines, they only take 4 adults at a time so it was understandably slow. There were jumping castles and overpriced helium balloons on sale, and face painting stuff. At the museum café the lines were long, not enough tables and people were sitting on the floor or just anywhere. The food was varied, the steak and mushroom pie was nice, the beef pie tasted like roasted(and burnt) chalk. I wouldn’t bother eating there for those prices.
