This is now the fourth time that has been a complete disappointment. I keep trying to forget the last experience, and continue to get proven right. Just had a chai latte(pretty much always a delicious choice) and both the smell and taste made me dry reach. My friend couldn’t finish her coffee. I give up. Service is moody, and I’m not interested in a pretentious coffee experience. Especially given how much they charge for the tiny cups. Not impressed. Shame, because they make good chicken and mayo baguettes. But that’s where it starts and stops.

Decided to go here after hearing great things about it. The coffee is lovely and smooth and tasty, I do wish they had bigger cups though. Even with the big queues of workers lining up for their morning caffeine hit the coffees do come out quite quickly. Unfortunately the toast does not. The toast has taken that long that I have gone back for another coffee and the second coffee has been handed out to me before the toast. I really don’t understand what takes so long for toast to be made. Maybe buy a toaster and don’t use the sandwich maker. I won’t be ordering toast again as it was delayed me getting into work on time but will be back again and again for the coffee.

This is one of my regular work day haunts, and they serve great coffee and food! Every day they have a different $ 10 lunch special and other baked goods and salads. The lunch specials can either be very good or ok, but the coffee is what I mostly go for. Also the staff here are very friendly!

A usual joint for me before work. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, great coffee. It really is as simple as that. They are in a prime location in the city(william st) and consistently deliver outstanding coffee.

I was so stoked to try one of the Brekkie Tarts, I showed up at half past 10 and walked into the café and saw some tarts sitting uncovered by the register. I assumed they were displays. I greeted the attendant ordered a coffee and a tart and asked if the juices they had were any good, but the guy behind the counter seamed rushed and didn’t answer, even though I was the only person in line. To my surprise he grabbed the hours old tart that was sitting on the counter(where everyone was standing and paying for their coffee and food) and proceeded to heat it up. I figured that It must have been fresher than I thought, or perhaps I was miss reading the scenario. They brought the tart to me a few minutes later. It was barely warm and the egg was like plastic. Not even edible. Could have passed on this Brekkie.

Another favorite of ours… They have THE best coffee in Perth in my opinion! They always have special blends and they can do just about any type of coffee you can dream of! I enjoy their cold brew on a warm day… Also they have fresh cheap good food on offer such as salads, toasties, soups, chia pudding, mini savory tarts and from time to time offer mouthwatering cakes that are delicious! Once I tried a double baked chocolate cheesecake that was to die for… Plus the staff there are genuinely nice and will always welcome you with a warm smile.

I’ve been visiting this lovely little café almost everyday for the past week, and it was such an awesome experience! The main thing that attracted me was the large amount of meat they put into their sandwiches, I mean, being a carnivore, this was pretty appealing! I absolutely adored their Asian chicken salad, it was so good I could have finished a whole salad bowl of it! To break it down, the first time I came here I ordered the pork belly hot roll and the ham hock soup, which was not the best combination to be honest. The sandwich itself was fantastic, nice large chunks of meat interlaced with crunchy veges and apple pieces, but the soup was extremely oily and had way too much pepper inside for it to be anything but inedible. the next time I went i got the chicken BLAT and spicy pumpkin soup, it was nice, loved the sandwich, the soup was a bit too spicy for me but I enjoyed the nice smooth consistency that you so rarely get with pumpkin soup these days. The third time was sticky lamb sandwich and the amazing asian chicken salad! the two went so well together! it was an absolute joy to eat! the last time was today, with the pork belly sandwich again and moroccan chicken soup. the sandwich was still amazing, but i did find the soup to be lacking in flavour. All in all, this is definitely a place worth coming back for!

Willie Wagtails has entertained me on numerous occasions with their witty signs consistently teasing me about a hot dog or roast roll or single columbian… Coffee that is. Today I thought I would finally give into temptation and buy that $ 10 pork belly roll. I patiently waited for my roll while I fiddled on my phone and dreamt of its deliciousness. When they called my name«Vanessa» and I looked up in great anticipation. I grasped the brown paper package to my chest and busted back to work. I carefully unwrapped the long anticipated roll… Only to be bitterly disappointed by its sloppy appearance. Now, appearances can be deceiving so I pushed up my sleeves and hankered on in. Once again I was bitterly disappointed. 1) it was sweet. 2) the pork belly was really fatty. 3) the cracking tasted burnt and not salty. It was just poor all round. I gave it a 2⁄5 and I feel I might have been too generous. For a $ 10 price tag, I feel utterly let down. Not sure I would give it a second chance.

Willie Wagtail places tempting photos of its great looking food on Instagram every day, and I’ve been there for lunch twice recently. I had the lunch special each time($ 10), one day a roast chicken & vege roll, the other a gourmet steak sandwich on sourdough with caramelised onions — both were delicious, but get there early if you want to get one of these. The coffee is top notch, service really friendly and the baked goods look amazing!

Oh, I do love this cute café for so many reasons! The service here is amazing, the staff are always cheerful and welcome you with a beaming smile and an enthusiastic greeting! I get such a warm, fuzzy feeling after I have visited Willie Wagtail and I leave the store with a spring in my step and a song in my heart. Perhaps they take their cue from the much loved bird — the willy wagtail also known as ‘Chitty Chitty’ by the Noongar people because of its constant chatter! I think it is a great name and have received lots of compliments on the cute coffee cups featuring the willie wagtail! I have enjoyed many a long macchiato over the last few months, so many thanks to the wonderful baristas who are so skilled at their trade that they create rather than just make the coffee! I have also munched my way through the ham and cheese croissant, the Bad Boy(sandwich with bacon) and the Bad Girl(vegetarian alternative) and deemed them delicious! You will be tempted by the fantastic breakfast tarts, with or without bacon they are scrumptious. Special mention must be made of The Brownies, yes they do warrant the capital letters! I happened to be passing by and wafted into the café on the aroma! The brownies were fresh out of the oven and looked as divine as they smelt! The master baker is a wizard I am sure! I grabbed a bunch of brownies and scurried home much to the delight of my children! Visit Willie Wagtail and the experience will have you shaking your tail feathers!

Oh Willie Wagtail… I had you up on a pedestal. Especially with those wonderful bacon & egg and veggie brekkie tarts you offer! That is until yesterday, when I went in to satisfy my current banana bread obsession. I was asked if I wanted it toasted and buttered so I told the counter girl(who normally serves me) that I would like it toasted. She said it would take about a minute so I stepped outside to wait. I noticed another lady opening and closing the grill on my banana bread several times but thought nothing of it at the time. After a while, I was handed my wrapped up warm toasty banana bread and I went on my merry way to work. I get to my desk, open the packet and was faced with a charcoal-edged piece of what should have been a moist, lightly toasted piece of deliciousness. I turn the banana bread over and it was even more burnt on the other side! I ended up having to break a lot of it off(which literally crumbled as it was so dry from being over-toasted). C’mon guys. I know it’s only $ 4 but it’s not right that you served me that. Not mad. Just disappointed. And I won’t be ordering anything toasted from here ever again.

Perths explosion of new coffee shops continues, wag tale has got a lot going for it; super enthusiastic staff who will enjoy letting you know their passion behind the ingredients and menu selections, this is what they believe in and they want you to join them. The are not afraid to try some variations on the classics, however it does not feel that they do this just to be different, but they are approaching it as something they believe in. The coffee has been consistent good even over the Christmas /New Years period when other places were shut or having inconsistent hours, and the ham and Brie roll is a favourite of mine.

I was a little overwhelmed and disappointed with my visit to Willie Wagtail this morning. I became overwhelmed and didn’t really know what to do when I entered the very busy space. The menu on the wall and labels on items in the cabinet didn’t really describe what they were… how do I know if I will like a ‘bad boy’ if I don’t know what it is. The staff were very busy and I felt pressure to just pick something and order so they could continue prepping the sandwiches. Maybe once you get to know the café you feel more relaxed and know what to order. I ended up with a muffin and a coffee. The muffin was stunning, it was still warm, soft and tasty. I could not fault the muffin, the coffee however was less exciting… I know I dig my own grave sometimes by being a soy drinker. The coffee its self was nice however the milk had done that weird curdle thing which just brings down the experience. The courtyard was the shining glory of this inner city café. The space was large, open and included some greenery which was nice.

I’m calling it the best cold pour over single origin coffee I’ve ever tasted. And at $ 4, it’s a bargain. I’m really impressed with the friendly service and the fact they remember my name!

Have been meaning to try this place for a while as I always walk past it from the bus. Love the décor inside, cement floors, basic courtyard, floor to ceiling glass windows and nice small variety of breakfast and lunch goodies. The staff are extremely friendly– always something I think is lacking in perth. Already I want to go back as the service was too notch. $ 5 for a ham and cheese croissant and $ 4 for a coffee. Everything was nice– as was expected for coffee and croissant. Will be back for some small breaky treats.

Grabbed my morning mocha from this quirky place. I thought I would try something new. Great décor and friendly staff. I drink soy milk due to lactose intolerance, my mocha was tasty but a bit milky in flavour. It was not quite as hot as I would have liked, it could have been gulped down at the temperature I got it at. Averagely priced for a coffee in Perth. All in all a decent coffee.

Grabbed a take away pastry and a hot choc on their 2nd day of opening. I spotted the place straight away with bright balloons being set up in the doorway. It’s diagonally opposite Jamie’s Italian on the outside of Raine Square. It was such a delight to walk in and be welcomed by not one, not two but all of the staff working in there. They were all so busy but took time out to acknowledge each customer that walked in. Can’t wait to go back for a meal and sit in the courtyard these Summer holidays.

Stopped in here for some lunch on a sunny Saturday and was plesently surprised. I wasn’t expecting the courtyard out back with tables that would allow you to sit in the sun /shade. Checking out the food, there were a couple of different baguettes and salads to choose from. Also lots of different pastry treats. I choose the ham and brie baguette which also had mustard in it. The roll was crisp and the ham was leg ham which was thick. The mix of brie and mustard was tasty and I would get the baguette again. The coffee was nice. I had a ristretto followed by an ice coffee. A place I will return to.

For its second day open, this place was in full swing with heaps of energy. It is fitted out with polished cement floors and wooden bench tops as well as a sweet little outdoor courtyard. It has a cool, non-fuss, laid back vibe to it — which suits its CBD location. Props to supporting local Perth roasters, with the Pound coffee blend, which is smooth, creamy and perfect for a weekend caffeine pick me up. It’s like a warm hug after a long day. Also the fresh croissants and bakes frosted with snowy icing sugar are a visual treat. Willie Wagtail has great people, good coffee and fresh, daily nibbles,. This cheeky new café is my new city fave!
