I’ve come here on several occasions. However, if you were to ask me what you should definitely order I would tell you beef tataki. I haven’t come across a place who does it better than Matsuri. Simple and delicious!

Was very good. Our group had a lot of the sushi and everyone enjoyed it. The beef tataki was very good. Pork Goya was seven lukewarm, wasn’t that special. But overall a good place to go for Japanese.

Such a consistently delicious Japanese. Many choices on the menu and staff is super friendly and attentive. Love the fish dishes. Disappointed with cold edamame :(

Had a lovely meal with friends here last night! Service was efficient, prompt and quick!!! Food was yummy and the beers flowed freely… When matsuri opened, it was fantastic and innovative.. and was what Perth needed! I do wonder, has Japanese in Perth become more competitive and matsuri has not evolved with the times???

I work above Matsuri in the QV1 Building and the Garden Salad they do for $ 4.50 would have to be the best value lunch around the CBD. This salad looks kind of small in the container but once you put it onto a plate it’s massive and so so fresh and yummy! Comes with carrot, red cabbage, tomato, tuna, lettuce, cauliflower, cucumber it fills you up not like most salads and you don’t feel guilty after it. Have dined in and tried the terriyaki beef here which was excellent. Friday night dinner always seems to be popular at this place after work. The crowd is mainly all business people. Quality Japanese food!

With all the restaurants around Perth Arena filling up quickly before the grand final we were lucky to be at Matsuri’s door on opening time, so we are able to secure a table. Without a sneak peek at Urbanspoon I did not know what to expect, except that maybe they will have the usual Perth city exorbitant prices. Oh how was I wrong. After admiring the clean and visually appealing décor we were seated next to the window with menus in hand. To my disbelief the prices were very reasonable so that was a big tick. After some very personable service our array of dishes arrived. The set menu teriyaki chicken and ginger chicken with beef tataki for the big kids and chicken sushi with crab balls(Aussie conversion) for the little ones. The proteins were all cooked very well with the right amount of moistness. The ginger was subtle and had just the right balance, to keep you wanting more. The teriyaki was a little flat in comparison but still very enjoyable. With the set menu you get two salads and miso soup included, and the miso did not disappoint with a wonderful hint of smokiness. So that’s the food done, but I think the service needs another mention. The super friendly waitstaff made the meal so much more enjoyable as nothing appeared to difficult and we felt very welcomed. To summarize the experience the food was excellent value, everything was cooked very well and the service was the cherry on the pie. Food 8⁄10 service 9⁄10 décor 7.5÷10

Corporate, classy and situated in a prime location. People in the city, either for lunch or dinner, flock to Matsuri. People are always waiting impatiently outside to be let in and gorge. Beware of being trampled. The food and service is nice, but it isn’t my top choice. The tuna tastes fresh, but it isn’t juicy red and gloriously tender. Their rolls lack variety and they are often very heavy on mayo. Truth be told, while I love the feel of Matsuri and will always pop in on occasion, I’d rather make the drive to Hanami.

In keeping with the Terrace location, the style is very corporate here. This is a spot for classy lunches and Friday night post-work blow-out. I was expecting to find Matsuri overrated and overpriced but the food was absolutely delicious and worth every cent! The service was also very obliging and efficient. I got the Ginger white fish($ 18.90) which comes in a set with perfectly cooked white rice, a lovely dressed Japanese salad and some miso soup. There was so much fish on the plate — I could have cut the serving in half… and half again. The ginger dressing on top was SO more-ish, I ate the whole thing!

Matsuri has sat on the corner of Hay and Milligan Street for as long as I can remember. The standard for Japanese in Perth is pretty high and Matsuri is no different, pumping out bento boxes and sushi for white collared workers for over a decade. The bonus here is that the wine is very reasonably priced, especially for a restaurant in the heart of the business district.

Matsuri is a contemporary Japanese restaurant found at the base of the QV1 building on St George’s Terrace. One of Perth’s most popular Japanese restaurants, it is not surprising considering its quality food and quick, helpful service. The interior of Matsuri is largely a metal and glass construction, with a stylised marble fountain gracing the front. While there is the potential for the décor to come off as too cold, the lighting and well-placed pot plants softens the décor and prevents Matsuri from appearing like a well-made factory. The sashimi is fresh and of good quality, with the salmon, tuna and octopus retaining a slightly salty tang and had firm flesh. The hot food, on the other hand, was a little on the bland side — for instance, the teriyaki chicken featured mildly tough chicken and the sauce was on the watery side. As for their drinks menu — their plum wine is worth a taste, especially for those who fancy port, as the plum wine is reminiscent of port but without the heaviness. Matsuri is worth a visit if you find yourself in the CBD and have a hankering for Japanese. If you don’t have a reservation, it’s recommended to arrive early, as tables fill up very quickly.
