Donut Blink

I’m not big on giving negative reviews but unfortunately I have to for Donut Blink.
I work next door and patiently waited for this hole in the wall style coffee shop to open up so I could sample their wares. I was excited by the promise of a good donut shop in Perth and their décor was fresh and appealing. Once they opened up they had quite a lot of teething problems, mainly the distinct LACK of donuts and problems with equipment.
For the first couple of weeks there was a steady stream of people heading up the Exxus arcade to try out the new kid on the block and then all of a sudden… nothing.
I went up the mall about 3 – 4 times hoping to get a caffeine fix but they were closed. No note on the door or explanation, nothing. So I did what any sane person would do, I stop checking if they were open. Unfortunately I have a feeling others have done the same thing because they seem a lot less busy than they were initially now that they have re-​opened.
I may give Donut Blink another go in a few weeks but their current teething problems are a too much for me to pick them over some other coffee shops in the area.

Oh, Donut Blink, I really want to like you, but you STILL seem like you’re only half open!
I’ve been giving these guys some time for their windows to fill up with food, but I couldn’t hold out any longer. I headed in this morning and disappointedly noted that they still remain void of the enticing array of donuts their name seems to promise.
Given that their small assembly or croissants and muffins weren’t doing much for me, I just ordered a takeway coffee ($ 4 for a medium).
It was OK. If you prefer your coffee on the milder and hotter side, you’ll enjoy it. If, like me, you prefer a rich, strong flavour, you might be disappointed.
It seems like this place is waiting for something before it becomes fully stocked and operational, but maybe they’re not. Is this some kind of soft opening? There is a website for a Donut Blink at the same address that doesn’t reflect what’s going on here at all. Is that what this café proposes to be one day? If so, when? I don’t know. I’m so confused.

I have not had a single good experience here; I left it a couple if weeks before reviewing them to give them time to settle in; but consistently the staff have appeared bored to be there, plus the coffee has been overly hot, sometimes bitter and always lacking in flavour…
As for donuts, the one time they had them, a free trial, it was beyond bland; I like to give the benefit of the doubt but after four visits — where most I did not even Unilocal since I walked out and around the corner to go somewhere else I have advise people to stay away I am saddened to say…
They only rated two stars because the service is quick and they are trying something new; I hope I have cause to update my review one day

Donut blink opened up about a month ago so I have deferred reviewing to allow them time to settle in.
I have stopped in for many coffees. The first one was really nice and was keen to have more, but they were still trying to perfect their coffee. Now I find the coffee bitter and the temperature is too hot for my liking. I find myself sitting the cup on my desk at work waiting for it too cool down before I can drink it.
Only every other day do they have some donuts (of a morning). I would prefer a muffin or croissant rather than a donut for a quick snack before work. I’m not sure if they plan to extend their range.
I’ll try it again in another month.

New little coffee shop in the posh Equus Arcade. My first thoughts on this place are, nice décor, cute name and sign. Nice location for people wanting a quiet coffee ‘cos there’s not much foot traffic, maybe not so good for the business.
Now on to the important business, the coffee. They use Fiori cups which I think implies they use Fiori coffee, that’s a good sign. The milk they use is Bannister Downs milk, good WA stuff! That’s a score! Support local produce!
The presentation of the coffee cup was quite interesting (see photos) it looked like a: P smiley was on the lid of my cup. Coffee was a tad too hot for my liking, and it left a bit of a bitter after taste. All in all it wasn’t a bad coffee. It was ok. $ 4 for a large cuppa of flat white.
The barista was a lady from NZ and she was a friendly one! Good service, so no complains there.
My only complain. No let’s call it an unmet expectation is that the owner wasn’t present. I believe in owners being there to build rapport with the customers especially with a new business like this one!
