One of the best little secrets out there, theres a touch of Italian architecture about the whole place, and the best part is, not many people know about it, and its not a tourist trap Best way to get there? Catch a Yellow CAT(Free) from Wellington St(heading East) and get off on Haig Park Circle, or if youre coming from Claisebrook Station– catch a westwards direction Yellow Cat and get off on Victoria Gardens. Do check out the buildings in the area too, its very well designed, and people wonder why not so many people know about the place

I used to work across the road from Claisebrook Cove yeeeeears ago. During spring a few co-workers and I would pop outside and sit on the grass, tanning our pins and enjoying the first wave of springtime heat on our office-white shirts and skin. Quite a serene little spot to enjoy the peace and quiet and the calming sound of the water fountain on your lunch break.

One of the finest spots to drop under a tree and gaze at the sky or watch the river dolphins, read a book or detox. Perth Idyll.

Claisebrook Cove is the city slicker’s version of nature. It’s an idillic spot, but there’s something very forced about it… Presumably the fact that is was planned and man made. But kudos to the man that made it. Claisebrook Cove is beautiful, and offers a bit of a peaceful refuge for city workers. If you’re looking for a picnic spot in the Perth area, Claisebrook Cove delivers. But be warned — as the refuge of the office bound, the area’s pretty packed through the week, so be sure to go on a weekend to soak up the government planned ambiance.

Gorgeous place for a picnic or just to enjoy your lunch. Very busy weekday lunchtimes — everyone who works near East Perth flocks here to eat their lunch. Really nice down by the water side, usually really well maintained by the council so the water is clean and doesn’t become stagnant and smelly. All of the restaurants and shops along Royal Street and down by the water are funky and if you don’t bring your own food, it won’t take you long to find somewhere nice to eat while you enjoy the view — no matter what time of day or night you come to visit Claisebrook Cove.

About fifteen minutes from the CBD on foot, Claisebrook Cove is a fantastic place to take a walk, to take a coffee, and to take some time out. Some Googling reveals an interesting story about the site. Founded in the early 1990s, the cove is the result of a successful urban renewal project, which transformed what was once an industrial site into a very pretty, if perhaps a little quiet, public space. The contaminated East Perth Gasworks are gone, as are the warehouses and railway yards that once festered here, and now ducklings swim about on manmade ponds while fountains do their thing behind them. It’s a great place to sit and read, or merely to take in the sun and think, and if the stream that opens out into the ponds is still a little unclean-looking one can always look the other way. One only wishes there were more people about. It can be pretty creepy sitting there on your own, accompanied by only a duckling and its mother.
