I have heard RAVEREVIEWS about Le Jolie so it had a lot to live up to… and it succeeded! I had a bit of trouble deciding what to have for brunch as everything sounded great. I finally settles on the Waffle with eggs, smoky bacon and maple syrup and it was divine. The eggs were smooth and creamy, the bacon was smoky and the waffle was just delicious — sweet and light and crisp. Others on the table had the croque monsieur which they reported was also delicious. Service was ok but we found it a a little strange when told that there was no hollandaise sauce(despite it being on the specials board with the eggs Benedict) and one of the croque monsieurs came with a side of ham which wasn’t ordered — and despite the sandwhich already being filled with ham. Overall a great experience and I cant wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.

*Coffee only review* After another lovely, drizzly Melbourne morning full of train delays I decided it was time to check out what is my newest local establishment. So on went the laptop and out came the coffee. The coffee was pretty spot on. Turned up super fast and the staff are really friendly. The café had a fairly consistent stream of unhappy train users like myself. Though many opting for a take away coffee and the joy of standing in the freezing cold and rain that is a Melbourne summer. I didn’t get a chance to look at the menu but saw quite a few tasty breakfast dishes coming out of the kitchen, including waffles. By 9am there are a few parents with child in tow coming through. The croissants here did look overly decadent and are on my list to come back for on a weekend. Next time my train is delayed I’ll be back here for another latte.

It’s a friendly little local, where you can always get a seat. Plenty of room for prams, and now there are even some seats out front. The food is undoubtedly French. Flavourful, rich and always well presented. I hear the waffles are a highlight, but I yet to try, I always end up getting stuck on the choc-caramel tarts! The pies are hearty, and the croque monsieur is rich and tasty. Staff are super friendly. Only criticism would be its a touch on the pricey side for a local café. But all in all I would recommend a visit.

The duo behind wholesale artisan Belgian waffles, Waffle Jolie, have found a retail space to let their cooking talents excel… Former make up artist & chef, Guy Trinquet embraces his Parisian roots at the chic French inspired space, crafting a menu inspired from his childhood. Expect baked eggs, brioche based croque Monsieur, crepes & hearty slow cooked beef casseroles. Waffles will be available, but only on weekends, with a variety of toppings so you never get bored(pft, who am I kidding — bored of waffles?!?). Kathleen Alexander is on hand to assist in the kitchen & on the floor, bringing with her a bubbly personality & contagious enthusiasm. When the weather fines up the vine-covered courtyard at the rear with a fishpond will entice. It’s a yes from me.
