Looking for a classy and quiet place for first date? Bring her to this place and you will score some browny points with the missus. Firstly, the ambience and harbour views are fantastic(make sure you book ahead for the window seats). I’ve been here a few times for dinner but I imagine the views would be nice during the day too. You’re basically overlooking the hustle and bustle of the lively harbour, all while sipping a glass of champagne inside a glass palace. The food serving sizes are not huge so I would recommend getting one side dish to share(psst, don’t get the salad with a funny name that comes with ginger sauce — it tasted bitter and weird). The mains are generally pretty yummy. We’ve been trying different dishes each time and haven’t been disappointed. The lamb cutlets were especially well marinated and juicy! I’ve read about the bad experience some Unilocalers had in the past, but I must have been quite lucky because I’ve always had great attentive service when we went. Our waitress today was very chatty(in a nice non intrusive way) and polite — nothing really to complain about. As you would expect with a fine dining venue with harbour views — this meal will set you back a little, especially if you’ve had drinks.

While staying at the hotel had my first nights dinner here. I was not overwhelmed the service was ok and the food was also ok. I had the duck and the donuts both just ok, not value for money wonderful. Breakfast was included in my stay and is NOTBUFFET. I am used to buffet so plan your time according if on business stay. My first experience at breakfast was the worst j have ever come across it took over and hour to be seated, feed and sign the free bill. I was moved, my order was given to someone else and did to time I ate something I didn’t order. However the next day I got up very early as despite lots of staff this restaurant struggles if there is too many people. My second morning was wonderful! I was out of there, right meal and extremely satisfied in 30mins. I personally would not return to war there unless included in the room rate.

Situated with Sydney harbour views is a winner … Interestingly I found the service lacking our waitress did not know what two of the items on the menu were when I asked. We opted for a selection of four cold meats and a bowl of fries with truffle oil and parmesan cheese. The meats came out on a wooden board perched up on two cans of tomatoes, I am not sure if using two cans is ‘vogue’ for five star dinning(I guess it’s just a personal appeal thing.). The fries as the picture depicts were unremarkable hand cut fries would have really added to the luxury of truffle oil. As you can see from The photo cheese grated over the fries are not really integrating the flavour.

Oh dear. Delicious food let down by terrible service. 5 different wait staff served us which led to confusion as none of them knew what was going on. A tray off butter salt and olive oil on the table made us hope that bread would be forthcoming, but we had to request it twice. The wine we ordered was out of stock and it took far too long to pay the bill. The food was good but the service left a bad taste.

I have not visited this fine restaurant for a couple of years, and can report that the standards have not diminished. The meal was cooked the way that I like my steak, and the service was excellent. The view over the harbour is worthy of such a fine establishment.
