Like most people in the first world, I’ve been to a lot of supermarkets and, for some reason, this is the one I choose to go to all the time. If I need something, I don’t even think about it, I find myself coming here. Which is a bit sad, really. Think of all the local produce I’m missing out on. Think of the local businesses I could be supporting. And yet. Generally, this is a fairly logically set out supermarket. My only complaint with the layout is that the dairy and frozen sections are miles away from each other, but this is a minor quibble. The service is generally of a decent standard, though it is yet to have the convenient self-serve checkouts boasted by other Woolworths’ locations. The background music, as with every store in this chain, is appalling and needs to be updated. And that’s really all I can say about that.

I don’t usually shop at Woolworths because Kakulas and Galati’s have stolen my gastronomic heart, but given their limited trading hours I have to get my emergency food items late at night from somewhere else. I really did not expect this Woolworths to have the best selection of organic/gluten free products! Most supermarkets, and indeed other Woolies, will have a small section of an aisle dedicated to non-allergenic foods which hardly get you excited about meal time. However, Palmyra Woolies stocks an extensive range of breakfast cereals, snacks, biscuits, sauces, pasta and spreads by Macro. If you’re after egg replacer, dairy free mint slice, or gluten free lasagna, this is the place to shop. It’s wwaaaay better than Fremantle’s Woolworths. They also stock 3 different types of almond milk. Yes, 3! And some are only $ 3! What a godsend when you’re used to paying a minimum of $ 6! I also found other goodies like organic hot chocolate sweetened with stevia. Check this place out if you’ve got a particularly difficult dinner guest(i.e.: Me!).
