This boutique is a stalwart of the Paddington set, so it obviously appeals to its target market. I suppose I can see why when I walk in to the very white, crisp interior full of lots of very white, crisp things. It’s certainly a shop for a specific type of woman and although I can appreciate that they’re catering for their customers successfully, nothing much in here appeals to me. In fact, it’s so white and pristine and fussy that I can’t stay in there for long for fear of knocking something over or getting something dirty with my very presence. I guess they’ve got some loyal customers because despite the heavy price tags they’re still doing a roaring trade and more power to them. It’s not the store for me, but shopping is subjective(how profound!) and it’s nice to see a Paddo boutique surviving when so many of them seem fold after a year or two.

There is a theory that it’s important to keep your bed looking appealing and as a place used only for sleep(and other activities that involve lying down). This is supposed to help you sleep more soundly. I apply a similar philosophy to pyjamas; nice pyjamas can help you to sleep and relax just as effectively as a good bed. Because of my obvious attachment to pyjamas, I was very excited to come across this store that offered an exquisite range of ‘at home wear’. I almost gasped aloud when I read the first price tag however, with a nightie costing over $ 200. Beautiful as they were, I found these prices a little ridiculous. Apart from the stunning pyjamas, they have a range of clothing and accessories. If you do have that kind of money to splash around, first, know that I hate you, and second, take a look because these pyjamas would please Marie Antoinette herself.

Chercher La Femme is the ultimate ‘Ladies who Lunch’ Paddington boutique. Opened in 1980, this is one of the very first boutiques on the strip, and they target a very select audience. If you love white Irish linen, hand detailing, high end fabrics and can afford to pay for it you need to visit Chercher La Femme. Service is lovely, the shop itself is very pleasantly laid out, however if you aren’t the kind of person who says ‘Dah-ling’ this may not be for you.
