As far as harbours go Ocean Reef is pretty pitiful. They have spoken about all these ‘plans’ that are supposedly happening, trying to make it a little more exciting. At the moment it is super basic. A park with a bbq a crappy kids playground and a toilet block. The main use of the place is for fishing, many people come down to fish of the rocks, and although I haven’t been myself(I always feel sorry for the fish) I have heard good things. There is a little hole in the fence on the left hand side of the park and it leads down the rocks into a beach. I don’t know if you are allowed to(probably not) but I take me dog down there and he loves climbing on the rocks, it is quiet and really peaceful. When you see the words ‘boat harbour’ think of it for its literal sense, don’t expect Hillarys boat harbour.

Ocean Reef Boat Harbour is a harbour for both fishing and boating enthusiasts. The boat harbour is a large boat harbour that can accommodate many boats, and also offers a jutting point where fishermen can take their chances at landing a fish. In terms of the boat harbour, Ocean Reef offers a calm area to launch. There is ample parking in the main carpark, and easy access to the launching area. From Ocean Reef, you can set sail up the coast towards Mindarie, or set a course to Rottnest Island. For fishing, the jutting point of the harbour offers some areas in which you can rest, although the ocean around the area can be somewhat rough at times. There is also quite a bit of seaweed, so you may find your hook catching more seeweed than fish. Still, people persist in fishing around the point, so there is good reason to believe landing a fish is possible. Ocean Reef Boat Harbour is a good place to launch a boat if you are in the northern suburbs, and fishing around there is worth a punt.
