Finally, a burger bun that isnt rock solid or turns to mush in 3 minutes. Having said that, there is something missing flavour wise with the Cheesy Mike, and the milkshakes. It’s just a little bit subdued. Decent enough burger though, so definitely worth considering if you are in the area and don’t feel like a souvlaki(although they do those here too now).

The short: It’s good! The long: A solid all-rounder, with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. I went for the veggie burger and a shake, and shared some haloumi chips(crumbed and fried sticks of haloumi… what’s not to love!) with my friend, and it was a LOT of rich food. But I ain’t complaining! Shakes aren’t quite thick enough for my liking(but that’s pretty much my catchcry, dangit) but the burgers are a good size, full of tasty things and still managable. A welcome addition to Oakleigh.

Hello Mick! You popped out of nowhere and onto the main corner of Oakleigh. Rejoice. With plenty of seating, this burger bar offers something for everyone. The burgers are juicy, the buns are sweet, the shakes thick and fries to die for. Stumbling into Mick Adams on a Saturday afternoon, two of us shared the Cheesy Mike(cheeseburger), chilli cheese fries, popcorn chicken and vanilla milkshake. The menu has options for vegetarians and dessert lovers too(fried ice-cream and more).

Mick Adams is apparently quite the legend when it comes to burgers and milk bars but can’t say I’ve ever heard of him before. For such a legend to open what appears to be their first Melbourne venture in Oakleigh seems like an odd choice, but those of us who like something other than souvlaki, it’s certainly welcome. The burgers were good. I stuck to the basic ‘Cheesy Mike’ which had all the bases covered — beef, cheese, tomato, lettuce and pickles(okay, the pickles were picked off, but each to their own…). The patty was juicy and tasty and the burger size would have kept Goldilocks happy — not too big and not too small. The ‘Naughty Nick’ also got rave reviews by my fellow diners. All agreed though that the buns were on the slightly sweeter side than we were expecting — not unpleasant but probably not to everyone’s taste. I found many of the burgers sounded very meaty with lots of bacon and eggs thrown into the mix. Might prove too much meat and grease for some. Plus, there was only one veggie option. The chips on the other hand should be to EVERYONE’S taste. Amazing. My group of four shared one serving of the beer battered chips which was the perfect amount with our burgers. I’m keen to hit up the feta version of the chips, and the chilli cheese version. Not to mention the milkshakes… Yep — pretty sure I’ll be going back.
