Best coffee in Norwood, breakfast served until 4:30pm. Their outdoor seating area is under cover but no smoking(which i like). The staff are all friendly and happy.

Still the best coffee in Norwood. Unfortunately that doesn’t say much, because the pickings are very slim…(Argo up the Parade is the only competition). But competition or not, the coffee is good here — somewhat surprisingly. Albert’s clientele is primarily families and retirees, the décor is ‘plain’(though aircon is good, and the outside table s are a great way to while away time people watching). Most of the staff look around 14, and it has a crappy name. never mind all that though — they must have a great barista.(and yes– I’ve been served good coffee even when the regular is not on the machine) I haven’t tried the food yet, but I keep coming back regardless.

A perfect lil place to either grab a quick fresh healthy bite to eat or stretch it out and have a relaxed lunch with a friend. After sorting through the ample Italian restaurants, it was refreshing to find heathy, light, quick meals.

I’ve always wandered passed Uncle Albert’s and thought it was such an odd location for a café, as it’s situated right in the centre of Norwood Mall. As a person that generally doesn’t like to be surrounded by people, the idea of sitting outside at this café didn’t interest me. But on one occasion, I wasn’t quite feeling myself and decided to take a seat in the centre of their outside seating area. Turns out, it wasn’t as bad as I thought! There’s something strangely pleasant about sitting in the centre of the mall whilst people continue to walk by you. Under the shade of the glass enclosure overhead, one could sit quite comfortably for hours without need to move! Whilst I didn’t try any of the food, I did enjoy their coffee, which was full and rich. I will say, however, that their breakfast menu looked appetizing and I will undoubtedly go in the near future after learning that their breakfasts are available until late afternoon(Thanks Lana!).

This place can get a little crazy during lunch service in the week before Christmas, but any other time you can chill out the front and have a tasty brekkie whatever time of the day/afternoon you prefer. The breakfast burger: bacon, fried egg, provolone cheese and avocado, makes me drool thinking about it, so good. Another great thing about Uncle Albert’s is the constantly changing artwork. One day you can be surrounded by snow scapes and the next they’ll be obscure post-modern self portraits covering the walls. At Uncle Albert’s they display art for sale, and guaranteed the next time you return the art will be sold and replaced with new stuff. Why don’t more places do this? Customers are happy and local artists are supported: win win. I’m not super fond of the name of this place I will admit. Makes me think of Albert Trotter, instead of their delicious burger.

My personal hours of operation differ from your average human being. As a freelancer, yes I work in my pj’s. I stay up as late as I like. 9am is pretty much the middle of the night to me. Early riser… yeah no. So you can imagine my confused disappointment when out and about looking for breakfast at 2pm. Adelaide is, in general, not cut out for types like me, with comparatively few cafes offering all day breakfast. Uncle Albert’s is a local café that serves hot breakfast till 4:30 — which is pretty much its main appeal to me. Plonked in the of Norwood Mall(just near Coles), there’s very little in terms of atmosphere to pull the crowd to Albert’s — but a crowd there generally is. It’s partly because of the outdoor area, which is quite big as well as being undercover, and good for people watching if that’s your bag. The other part of it is all-day breakfasts for a pretty great price. We’re talking the old reliable: bacon, eggs, toast and tomato with a coffee for $ 14. Yup. Ron Swanson would approve of the bacon levels in their big breakfast, and so do I. They also have a pretty decent selection of lunch, brunch options — but I can’t speak for them at all. I can’t look past my 2pm bacon.
