We went to this bistro recently, the food was delicious, a goat curry with curried vegetables, naan bread, mango chutney and saffron rice. The servings were generous, the goat was tender and spicy, the naan superb and the vegetables very tasty and flavoursome. The mango chutney could have been better, but was not bad. With a couple of beers the cost was $ 67 for two and we left very content. The waitress was charming and helpful.

The first time I went to Hazara, I wasn’t expecting much. But as soon as I tasted the food, it won me over. A mix between Indian and Singaporean(which kind of makes sense, as there are a lot of Singaporean people of Indian heritage), the food here is fresh-tasting, very clean and sharp. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish they served. Quality! The service is great, the staff are mega friendly and chilled. Plus, the décor is really cosy. I’d definitely come back here.

It was my Dad’s birthday this week and we went to Hazara India and Singapore Bistro(formerly known as Cilantro) for a big dinner. I never went to Cilantro, but I have been to several restaurants that owner/chef Namit Mangal has worked at — Spice and Ice, Urban India and Maya. Namit is the perfect charismatic host — he makes friends with regulars, chats to them and makes them comfortable. His service and the service of his team at Hazara is very welcoming. Good service is important, but even more important is good food! Hazara delivers. I was a little surprised by the combination of Indian and Singaporean food — but I really enjoyed it. The lighters and fresher Singaporean options sat well alongside the heavier Indian dishes — I like to get a bit of fibre and freshness even when I eat out. Hazara’s menu is big, featuring some of the stalwart favourites and some more interesting stuff. My family like to order big so we tried lots and took away leftovers. I was surprised that I loved the Singaporean dishes the most — Sambal Scallops, Spicy Soft Shell Crab and a tofu and beansprout salad. The Sambal was deliciously spicy and glistening, and the salad a good refresher. The Indian dishes on the menu are much better than your run of the mill Indian fare — there is a bit more too them spice and herb wise. The prices are very reasonable — especially for The Parade — and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant too. Traditional Indian pictures on the walls, normal seating and a more relaxed cushions and low table area, plus a giant blow up Santa for Christmas. Oh — and a great beer menu.
