This store is so great. Stocking a large range of art supplies including spray cans for both street artists and DIY lovers. I can always find awesome shades of spray paint for my little projects in the best colours here. They also hold art shows for local perth artists & stock a range of mens clothing, accessories & art magazines. The staff are amazing & the owners dedicated & passionate. They have really brought a great vibe to William street. There are now stores in both Victoria park & Fremantle so the hard work of the butcher shop team is paying off :)

The Butcher Shop firstly caught my attention because I wondered, why is there a new butcher’s shop in Northbridge? Then I looked closer and realised it is, in fact, a showcase of art as well as an arts supplies place. Northbridge has undergone a dramatic cultural shift lately, and The Butcher Shop is at the forefront of this shift. While the motivation behind the name is still unclear to me [perhaps they wanted an «edgy» name combined with cognitive dissonance], the showcased artwork is sharp, cutting and innovative. They also have some great arts supplies, like these fantastic textas that can be used to render a variety of effects.

This is such a great store the idea, the shop fit out and what they sell. Walking in and seeing meat counters displaying paint pens of every size and colour gloriously stacked amongst street art books and millions of colourful blank tee shirts. The books you will find are by artists such as Herakut, Mark Ryden and Banksy plus more and many compilation books of several fantastic and emerging street, fine arts and tattoo artists which will keep your eye balls busy. You will also find stencil books, colouring in books lettering and photography books plus magazines covering all that has been mentioned above plus original artworks on the walls. It is just so refreshing in this store which aims to inspire and provide the materials to create. I want everything inside!

As a strict vegan, this is the only Butcher Shop that draws me in. The Butcher Shop is northbridge’s finest delicattsen of low-brow culture. Instead of hanging up dead chooks by their necks they’ve hung up sustenance for the graffiti and street art enthusiasts. They’ve sunglasses by Schwood displayed like a fine range of quality meats behind a glass fridge door, a premium supply of paints and sharpies at the counter, a small range of tshirts and some very cool zines too. I know I’d rather have three servings from here a week.

The butcher shop is a display case(and suppliers fix) of, and for, established and emerging street artists. Cutting edge, setting trends and pushing comfort zones. Definitely worth a look in from any side of the fence — animal activists push through, this shop is a tasteful selection of creative, raw, quirky and, at times, confronting art works, juxtapozed to lead you on a thought provoking journey. Capturing the essence of a gallery and combining that with creative visual merchandising which evokes the desire to spend. I am generally not a BIG shopper but, I found myself struggling to refrain from taking the walls home with me! The store is as genuine as the people and street culture it represents. Certain to make an impact!

One of the great things about The Butcher Shop is that the store is run by the owners. Aimee and Drew have pioneered great initiatives that have brought vibrancy to the Northbridge area and have been great supporters of the local arts community over the past 10 years. The butchers inspired fit out houses a great resource of street art related literature, clothing from local, national and international street wear labels, original artworks and a huge selection of artist’s utensils. Upon entering the store local canine icon Frank greets you with a warm welcome. The store presents a balance òf both traditional graffiti and street art products, that are reflective of the current state of the street culture movement. One of the true gems of Northbridge, The Butcher Shop represents the young entrepreneurial flair that will hopefully dictate the progression of the area.
