Cafe Myriade

This place is a great place to spend hours reliving my childhood love –playing board games.
A group of us got in at opening time at 2pm on a Saturday to play board games. It is 12 bucks for two hours, 14 for two hours and a drink and 19 for two hours and a drink and 6.50 for an hour and a drink and I think because 2pm is happy hour you can play for 7 hours at 15 dollars price. What a bargain. And they do soft drinks, iced drinks and coffees. Moreover, they have amazing desserts like sticky date pudding, tiramisu, ferrero rocher cake and more.
The staff are lovely, always smiling, filling up glasses of water and cleaning up board game messes.
It was so hard to choose from the myriad (literally) of games and we settled on the Australian version of monopoly. Perth costs 3m. Wow. And electricity and water works have been replaced by internet and mobile services. After two hours of playing, negotiating, buying and selling, I was asked to pay up 12.5 million after I landed on a property with a hotel on it. It was time to call it quits. But I could have kept going. Had an amazing time. :)
There was a large group of kids that were literally screaming, making so many messes and their parents didn’t even clean up. But the wait staff were unfazed, patient and were quick to clean up. I I really really commend them for their service.
Love this place. Wish we had more of this around.

I heart this place so much. I first heard about café Myraide from a friend and have since been a dozen times. Each visit as fantastic as the other. It’s a great place for a get to know you date, a double date, family night or even fun with friends. Want to know if she’s the one? Challenge her to a game…
The staff here are very friendly and will help you select games and will show you how to play them. They have a great selection and they also sell tea, coffee, hot chocolates, soft drinks, cakes and the most important part… WAFFLES!!!

Imagine — a million boardgames, ones you never even knew existed and ones you remember from childhood. Welcome to Café Myriade where you can spend an easy few hours with a variety of games.
I booked for a group of 15 on Saturday where they only have to pay $ 12 per person to play as many board games as possible.
I do recommend you book because it was easily a packed out café and Mandy, who works here was super helpful in helping our group pick a game. She was smiley (which I always like) and attentive.
Notable mention — while the prices for slices of cake and drinks appear pricey they are actually top quality and decadent. They also seem extremely flexible when it comes to bookings as I saw you can even arrange for pizza and work with the staff to have any type of event you want.
The waffles also looked amazing. I am going to have to return either with a group or on a date because I think it would be impossible to be bored at Café Myriade and I also like that it is truly original.

Remember the days when boardgames were the staple source of entertainment and battle of wits in the family home? Café Myriade brings this back with gusto. This little café tucked in around the corner from the bright lights of Northbridge signature is board games. They have an incredible library of board games. To quote one staff member, «We have games so much better than Monopoly.» And boy do they. There are the childhood favourites included like Cluedo, Guess Who? and Operation.
However there are a whole lot more games in boardgames and this is where the staff shine in customer service. Someone approaches you upon entry and asks whether you’ve visited before. VERY important because you pay for your time in the café to play their games and the rates are really reasonable. They also do Murder Mystery Nights catered especially for your group! FINALLY somewhere central in Perth that does this.
Where was I? Okay. There are packages of game play plus drink and dessert or you can pay by the hour. The staff point out which one works out cheaper for your plans for the day or night if you’re unsure. There are also Happy Hour Specials which on a Saturday from 2PM — 7PM is $ 9 per person for the entire five hours of game play. It sounds like a lot for us newbies being introduced by friends of ours, but four hours went by FAST.
I understand that you may have your hearts set on a particular game from childhood or you want to settle a score from yesteryear with a foe. Totally doable but explore the games. How this works is that a staff member will ask what you what you want to play. You can let them choose and they ask for what kind of game you would like to play and your interests. Then they wander off to their library of games from A-​Z and come back with a game and teach you and your friends how to play.
They let you play and come back to see how you’re going. What’s more, they’re genuinely interested in how you’re finding gameplay. You can have some serious in depth discussions here. The boardgame nerd within me, (never knew I had one), loved this so much. They are also totally honest about whether they have personally played it or have just taught a game. What is invaluable is description of how they or other people have found gameplay so you sort of know what you’re getting into.
The food. Well there’s a selection of cakes and even waffles for under $ 10. There are also savouries for under $ 10 and the price of savouries gets discounted with the purchase of a package. There are also gluten free options. The drinks. There’s coffee, tea, soft drinks, and juices. For groups you can order juices and soft drinks by the jugs. And if that’s not enough, there are also Wii games available as well.
Definitely returning. Never had so much fun in a café anywhere.
