Midori was my choice for introducing my workmate to the fine art of Japanese dining, and while the menu’s a little plastic-y, the food is predominantly delicious. We worked our way through a sushi & sashimi platter(also something I enjoy smashing back solo), some takoyaki, yakitori, tempura and gyoza. To my delight, my workmate tried at least one of everything – even the sashimi! But I also didn’t complain when she chose to leave the rest of the sashimi to me, because that salmon is fresh and delicious. You can walk in the door at Midori at 8:30pm and they’ll still feed you. I appreciate this! Two disappointments: 1. order confusion – firstly identifying one of the items being written incorrectly, but missing the other one until it arrived. We didn’t order THAT much for it to be confusing… did we? 2. not being offered a dessert menu, and watching time tick over to the wait staff flicking the OPEN sign on the door to CLOSED. Despite another diner still order mains, we took that moment as our cue to finish up, and went somewhere else for dessert.

These guys are the cutest Japanese restaurant with the heaviest door ever! I love the food & the kind staff. Everything here is great(apart from the heavy door)!

This is the best Japanese and sushi restaurant in Hobart. Affordable, healthy, tasty and the atmosphere is incredible. 4⁄5

Midori is an excellent little sushi bar restaurant in north hobart. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. It is small so during busy times of the evening it’s probably best to try getting there early, as it is quite popular and fills up quickly. However being in the north hobart food district, if it’s full there are many other options around.

Friendly service and delicious food. Have been here twice now and food was great both times. Service was just a little slow on the first occasion.
