Exactly the breakfast I was looking for! Fast and courteous service. Depending on the mood there’s indoor and outdoor seating. I chose the lather. What a great neighborhood find.

Food is good(not great) but I found the service quite bad. Hence the 2 stars(and not 3) One of the waiter was really rude — telling me to stop talking that much and eat my food instead… and I am pretty sure he was not even trying to be funny. We ordered 3 salads — I must admit the servings are quite big but it is not cheap either(18 $). Produce are fresh and it is tasty but nothing stood at or would be remembered. Pretty sure there are better options in the area

This place is the reason why my sundays nights are better than most peoples. They have live music, do an awesome meat and cheese board and their wait staff is friendly. My only hesitation on giving them full stars is that I ordered the pork roast once and wasn’t impressed. I have also been there for breakfast and order a prosciutto egg and pesto plate which was delectable! Recommend the depot for any night of the week but particularly for brekky and sunday night wine + cheese with good friends.

The full English(complete with sautéed spinach and avocado slices) brekky at Jo and Willy’s Depot is solid and will certainly fuel you for a big day. And the green eggs and ham my friend ordered seemed to satisfy him similarly. I was less a fan of the green juice, which I found lukewarm and gritty. I’m at least half to blame for this given I didn’t know that«Vital Greens» is a powdery substance and ordered it thinking it would be a mix of fresh green vegetables. This open air café in North Bondi is a good choice for a morning meal, lingering over a coffee or catching up with friends. I’d find it hard to get work done here, though.

I love depo, I honestly do! I love the food, its always fresh and doesn’t take usual Bondi time to be served and ready. But I do have a bone to pick. I am there most days. I take client meetings and conduct interviews there and own a business literally in the same street. Yet they have no idea who I am. I am constantly asked what my name is. I always have a smile on and follow them on all their social media and«like» most of their posts. Have I done something wrong?

Well hi there North Bondi, been a while between brunches. Kinda glad I came here for an energy boost before the sculptures walk. Before I get onto the food, I gotta mention the staff here — outstanding! I was first of 4 to arrive and as you can imagine on a gorgeous spring Saturday morning, this place was PACKED so I was happy to leave my name and wait for a table. Larry(gosh I hope his name was Larry. if it wasn’t, apologies mate, but for the purposes of this review, you are now Larry), had invested all of his time into finding me a table for 4(even after letting him know others could take it due to nigel no friends) — he offered me a straight up no BS ristretto(which of course went down a treat) … he even snuck in a cookie(awwww if I could take him home, I would). The menu is superb … there’s a ton of brekkie options here, even the fussiest eaters could find something to chew on — the acai bowl was solid as was the green juice. Best seat in the house is the bench outside — had an interesting sticky beak into a couple’s first date convo but at 9am, I couldn’t bring myself to join in their debate about south american political corruption. Is this what kids talk about nowdays? Impressive, I’ll just stick to The Motorcycle Diaries for now.

First thing’s first, I’m not a morning person but I do love my breakfasts. Needless to say I am normally focussing on the shovelling food in my mouth activity at 8am rather than engaging in a conversation over politics or what Miley Cyrus was wearing at the VMA’s. This place receives 4 stars for its food. My smashed peas and avo with zaatar spice, smothered on sourdough and topped by two creamy poached eggs and a cripsy parmesan crunch on top was a great start to the morning. Coffee wasn’t bad either. Unfortunately it was the unfriendly breakfasts guests who joined me at my table that morning that meant I was rudely interupted from the whole morning wash blur of consuming breakfast. I had 1 roach who wouldn’t take no for an answer and insistently crawled up my leg and arm and onto the table(sneaky little guy) to try and join me for my morning meal. The other appeared crawling along the table 20 minutes later, he must have lost his friend. It’s damn hard to get rid of roaches in Sydney especially in a restaurant that is so beautifully open so you can enjoy the sea breeze, but I have to say it did put me off a little. It’s a popular spot and a great menu worth exploring. Just be alert and en-guard when dining in!

When it’s crap weather in Bondi everyone just goes for brunch all the time because there is quite literally nothing else to do. I wanted to take a stab at who was Jo and who was Willy but it was kind of tough telling the casually cool Bondi wait staff from the casually cool Bondi clientele. The brekkie here is supreme — I gots myself the Spanish stack, with a huge delicious mattress of char-grilled red peppers and onions stacked atop sourdough and topped with chorizo and spicy salsa. The green eggs and ham — with spinach wrapped in hot ham, and a high hat of parmesan wafers — looked like a winner too. Minus one star for the brave cockroach that came in from outside to see what all the fuss was about. Although with this humidity it’s kind of hard to avoid the little buggers unforch.

I’ve been here a couple of times and have not been overly impressed — given it’s popularity I thought I’d give it one more try. Unfortunately I ordered the eggs Benedict w/ham. Everything was cold(including the toast) except for the eggs. Coffee was not bad. Given various bondi café options prob won’t be back

Jo and Willy’s has expanded! Taking over the neighbouring shop(that used to be a hairdressers), we watched as this obviously tight-knit staff transformed their new space literally overnight. I’d say it now holds double the amount of customers — and with weather this wintery(read: gross) it couldn’t have come at a better time as there’s no chance anyone’s sitting outside. The problem? Service has suffered. The two times I’ve been back since the expansion I’ve gotten a table straightaway, but found myself constantly asking for things like cutlery, water glasses, coffee, the bill, the bill please, the bill, can we please pay you and leave? I’d simply chalk this up as a growing pain — I highly doubt they scaled their staff or kitchen when they doubled in size. Just be willing to wait a bit as they get used to these new digs. The food? Delicious as usual.

The Depot is the café to see and be seen at in North Bondi, with constant queues for takeaway coffees and for a coveted spot in the sun at one of their outdoor tables. It seems their pastries available from the counter aren’t made in house — I tried a lemon and ricotta muffin there recently that was crusty and tasteless, almost like it had been made with that powdery gluten-free flour — but no matter as their food from the kitchen is consistently awesome. My favourite meal is their deluxe take on green eggs and ham — a massive slice of sourdough toast is topped with two poached eggs and a generous bundle of rocket wrapped in prosciutto, served with a big dollop of pesto and into which they wedge a couple of parmesan wafers. It’s a great place to stop by for brekkie before heading down to the beach or a lazy, sun-drenched weekend luncheon, with views to the nearby water and a reliably buzzing atmosphere.

This local favourite is the perfect brekkie /brunch spot on a saturday morning, grab a table in the sun order a coffee and some scrambled eggs on toast and enjoy one of Bondi’s best cafes. Situated at North Bondi these café is always buzzing with locals and with good reason it’s just a great café. The food is good, the service is good, the staff are friendly and really nice, there’s always a good vibe here. My tips are the eggs, the pancakes(yum!) and the granola with yoghurt. I haven’t sampled the lunch menu here but I’m told it’s pretty good too.
