I do love savers its massive with a great range of things to go through as op shops go it’s quite expensive which is disappointing as its pushed prices in the smaller op shops up too. The staff seem to split completely between very friendly and helpful to being rude and arrogant. They also aren’t willing to barter prices like other op shops. But the range of items makes up for this. It’s easy to spend an hour or more so leave the kids at home

I think they golden rule with any thrift shop adventure is time. Make sure you allocate yourself enough time to get through all of it. If you have a time limit, you’ll get frustrated and miss a lot.
Although all the Savers locations are not in great proximity to the city, visiting one is worth the road trip. You’ll be blown away by what is on offer and the prices!
Generally speaking, most of us visit thrift shops the day of a costume party frantically looking for a last minute gold jacket or leopard print tights (don’t ask). BUT you shouldn’t simply label savers as the go-​to costume shop as it has so many other great items. My last visit I picked up a great polo, ice-​block makers and my housemate scored a sweet vintage road racer!
Having moved out of home with pretty much just my clothes and mattress, Savers came in handy for a cheap alternative to brand new items that, let’s face it, are dangerous to own in a share house.
Visit Savers, be amazed at the range and don’t hold back!

This store is like the holy grail of thrift shopping. When I go to savers, I am on a quest. mainly because I live quite far away from the Tea Tree Plaza store… But I am also on a quest to find a bargain!
When you walk into a Savers for the first time, you actually stand there dumbfounded at the size of it. Savers is like a department store! I remember thinking, wait, are you sure this is all second hand? Well it is baby! Rows and rows of thrifty goodness.
I should also note, that I have noticed that many thrift stores do not have big mens sections. It is probably because men wear clothing until they fall off from their bodies. But not at Savers. To you stylish gentlemen, go see for yourself!
So, Savers has everything from clothing, shoes, toys and homewares. Also, during festive seasons they stock some new costumes and decorations.
Please note though, you must be a patient thrifter for this store. It is big, I have spent a couple of hours searching. But always well worth it.
One last thing about the Savers stores, they support good causes: DiabetesSA, DiabetesVIC and SIDS and Kids Vic.
Tip: They have an amazing loyalty program. Sign up for a Super Savers Card and they email you cheap days to shop. Also, when you donate, ask for the Recycle Rewards Card. Every time you donate, you get 5% off your next visit. This card goes up to 20% off, and then you get a new card to start over.

There’s no shame in my op shop game and this place is like the Bloomingdales of op shops.
On a weekday, it’s quite peaceful and the «wheep wheep» noise of hangers scraping along racks fills the air. There is plenty to get through so allow yourself some time to browse all manner of clothing, jewellery, accessories, homewares, furniture, toys and footwear. Popular sizes may be a bit sparse but since they get something like 5000 new pieces in a week, you’ll just have to come back soon and see what’s new. The items are generally in good pre-​loved condition and there is a distinct lack of mothball odour.
As a bonus, when you bring in a bag of pre-​loved items, you get a discount card with incremental discounts off your next shop which is a great reason to practice a little op shop karma; if you give away your good stuff rather than try and flog it off for a pittance on Gumtree, others might give theirs away too, which is good news for you!
My top scores include pants from Review and Country Road, dresses from Bardot, Cue and Portmans, Bonds jumpers and plenty of hardly-​worn baby stuff.
Today I discovered they now have a full costume department, selling new costumes and accessories like wigs, props and make-​up. Like I need another excuse to love it!

Having worked at the Noarlunga Savers store I was keen to check out their second SA store.
I have to say, I think it’s actually better!
Much bigger, really well laid out, easy to navigate, lots of stock selection and very bright & airy.
As you might expect with a second hand store of this standard, things are a little more pricey than your local moth ball smelling charity shop, but you can still get a lot of bargains.
I spent $ 37 & walked out with jag jeans, a guess top, a free fusion top, (both like new), a whole bag of brand new baby bibs & a kids puzzle. Better than eBay!

This is the cleanest and roomiest recycle goods store I have ever been in. Staff are everywhere to keep items neatly on shelves and keep the floors clear for safe passage.
A mixture of bric-​à-​brac, clothes, shoes, books, belts, games, sewing threads, all sorts of items.
Savers works in conjunction with diabetesSA so you know your bag donations are going to a good cause.
