This is the No. 2 pop-up store for the Real Food Projects, and it’s in a cosy little shopfront on Enmore road(not far from Oporto … oh what a landmark … big contrast …) The idea of this project is basically to provide the specialty food producers of Sydney a retail outlet. The emphasis is on sustainable, locally made and locally grown food. Real Food Projects is a community of chefs, artisans, urban farmers, sustainability campaigners, and foragers. Right now they have kitted out the space with gorgeous rustic recycled furniture, have some veggies — e.g. beans, eggplant & corn, and a lot of gorgeous looking things in jars: honey, chutneys, soups, jams, pickles, olive oils, vinegar, cordial, muesli, tea, etc. You can also buy fresh pasta and truffle oil stuff. It’s a delightful little shop, though hard to find price tags on the goods, and a little bit of shock when you realise some of the goods are on the pricy side. Totally understandable why they would be, though, so I get it. The vibe is very friendly. It’s cash only. Bring your on bag or box. Project 2 is open until the 14th of April 2013, and they’re planning Project 3 somewhere else…
