Great food, chorizo special was amazing. Great atmosphere and layout. Excellent service, couldn’t be happier with the wait staff.

Other reviewers have mentioned that the menu is not wildly creative. But what they offer is done well. We tried the patatas bravas, meatballs, garlic prawns, paella and fried chicken wings and they were all cooked well and were delicious with good flavours. I thought the serving size was fine for the 4 of us. They have a choice of banquets but I have never seen a banquet that wasn’t overpriced anywhere, so I steer away from them. Order from the menu and ask for double serves if you are a large group. You can always order more! Their wine list contains a lot of wines from Spain but they are not overpriced and you can try to relive that last holiday in Barcelona, sitting in the sun by the sea with a glass of the rose!

I’ve been here twice so far, but will try to roll it up into one review and still do some justice. I started out with the potatoes bravas both times. These are done differently than other places but are quite good. They are small whole potatoes vs the typical chopped/blanched/fried bravas, but I have to say that I really liked the spiciness of the dish overall. Second time there I tried the olives and the pan con tomate, and both were very good. The tomate is a pretty big serving, so if you’re on your own don’t expect to finish. For the entries, I tried the paella and was pleased with that dish. Second time through I had the BBQ squid and I thought that was very good. I had the sangria and it was good, but too small! it’s worth noting that staff at Bocados is friendly and helpful, and they know their stuff. I believe the owner is from Argentina and so are at least some of the wait staff, so there could be a small communications barrier but they definitely know the food and can give guidance if you’re not sure about the dish. In summary — If you’re in Newcastle and you want some good tapas give this place a try. It ranks below another tapas place in Newcastle, but is clearly better and more authentic.

I had gone there a few times and sometimes it great and sometimes it’s terrible. Also there servings are very small, it’s very expensive but if it wasn’t for the OK food I wouldn’t go there.

I really don’t think their food would make a Spaniard homesick.

Good tapas, friendly service. The churos with chocolate and dulce de leche is fantastic and a great way to finish!
