Wow! I thought Long Grain, Spice I Am, and Chin Chin were the pinnacle. These guys come really close, and beat in many respects. Their Tuna Tataki was amazing, flavours so fresh; Larb was terrific, truffle rice!!? So great.

This was rated at 5 stars at the time of my review and would’ve stayed that way if I stopes at the zucchini flower; which was awesome and made me really look forward to the beef curry. Unfortunately the curry was not my favorite. Without the zucchini flower it would’ve got 3 stars. The beef was tender but the sauce was average at best. Not a fan of the apple eggplant or squash. The green beans were good but there was too much basil and way too many capers. Food came very fast. Then I was forgotten, should’ve changed it to 3 stars but it was a busy Friday night so I gave them the benefit and walked up and paid at the register.

This place is ridiculous. Ridiculous good that is. Really cool décor that feels like a cross over between a book store and a Thai restaurant. Our large family of 7 sat at a huge roughly hewn table surrounded by wine bottles, books and the occasional Buddha. The menu is misleadingly large and takes a while to wade through. But the richness and diversity of the menu is impressive. They have many of the typical Thai dishes, but they all seem to have some kind of a twist albeit an Asian one. But the real fun of this place is the atypical dishes, which are numerous. We ordered too much(a habit of ours as we like to try so many things) but that meant we got a real sense of what Yok Thai has to offer. Simply put, this is the most interesting Thai restaurant I’ve been to ever. It kind of reminds me of Mr. Wong’s in Sydney CBD, but a Thai version. One thing to note: while we took our kids and they are very adventuresome eaters(especially for their ages), this is really not a children restaurant. The dishes are just too esoteric and unusual for typical kid pallets.

Wow what a wonderful neighborhood spot. This is really convenient but more importantly the food is terrific. The duck roll was really excellent and the while barramundi was delicious. The stuffed zucchini flowers were a real standout as well. So large and full if flavor. Delicious! The spice is excellent and the Friday night atmosphere was convivial with big family groups and even live music. A rarity apparently in Sydney restaurants. The curry was flavorful and the spicy beef appetizer was nice as well There is fully kitted Bittle shop across the way so a perfect way to enliven a meal. And for the true afictionado, the sesame ice cream is dark a flavorful. With the fried banana really a nice complement. All in all a great neighborhood place.

I really can’t rave enough about how much I loved Yok Thai. It’s not the cheapest place around, and with their ‘tapas’ menu having so many options it’s easy to spend a lot here. Saying that, if you’re reserved with your spending you can keep things low. They call it a Tapas & Wine bar, but it differs from your usual tapas bar. For starters it’s Thai, a cuisine not usually associated with tapas. The food is fresh and incredibly tasty. You can stick to more traditional Thai favourites from the main menu, but I recommend checking out the tapas menu. The stuffed zucchini flowers are delicious, as are their oysters. It’s a really nice looking place, the main disappointment, it’s right across the road from Woolies. So while you’re sitting by one of the large windows on a sunny day, instead of staring out to a busy street or a beautiful sight you’re watching people get their groceries. We went for Yok Thai for dinner, and then for lunch the next day. If we’d been in Sydney for much longer I’m sure I would have tried to fit in another trip.
