I love perfume so Mariposa is one of my favourite shops in Perth. Bree and the girls are really lovely and take time with each customer to try and find the best product to suit their needs. They stock quite a wide range of niche perfume brands such as Creed Amouage L’Artisan Parfumeur Costume National Cire Trudon candles Mariposa is a great place to come and spend some time seeking out the perfect fragrance for you, that is unique and much less common than what you find in the main department stores. The prices are reasonable for the exchange rate and seem on par with equivalent perfumeries around Australia. They host special events once or twice a year for the launch of new ranges, hosted by their distributor. I’ve been twice and loved it each time. You pay $ 50, which gets you champagne and macarons and an expert presentation of Michael Edwards’ The Fragrance Wheel, along with matched perfumes for each type(eg, citrus, fruity, floral, woody, oriental). At the end of the presentation(usually an hour) you can have a perfume selected for you, with the cost of the event redeemable against your spending. It’s a great way to spend an evening. They also sell cosmetics and skincare, such as Apivita.

This place is such a delight. They have been a longstanding supplier of Becca and Aesop — two of my favourite brands, as well as Butter nail polishes and Glasshouse candles which are also marvellous brands. I have watched them shift focus in recent years toward becoming two-thirds Perfumerie. They stock some truly exquisite and rare perfume labels from all around the globe. They also host workshops from time to time which you can find out about if you subscribe to their e-mailing list. This place is perfect for a treat for yourself, or for a really gorgeous gift for a lady friend.

Wow this place really catches your eye with its large glass windows displaying all their wonderful body products worthy of making any woman(or man) feel fabulous, the hanging light bulbs and stunning paintings give it an artistic and upper market feel and the benches and little shrubs outside enthuse what a little beauty boutique in Provence would be. Just walking in is a pleasure; smelling the divine products, the staff being so friendly and attentive and if you are looking for a flavour that you can’t find anywhere else stop and go to Mariposa they will certainly have it. I enquired about a coconut perfume I wanted to give as a gift to my sister(it is so hard to find coconut perfume!) and without surprise they had one which smelt unbelievable and I was over the moon until I found out how much it cost; $ 160 for a small bottle but I was reassured that it was organic sadly that did not fit my budget . This is a truly wonderful place to spoil yourself or someone special by making them feel refreshed and beautiful but this beauty does come with a hefty price tag.

Aptly named after the Spanish word for ‘butterfly’, this Parisian chic, heavenly scented store is an indulgence in beauty and giftware. Stocking little known names in skin care and fragrance like Juliet Has A Gun, Côté Bastide, Linari and Savon de Marseille and also the highly sought after Aesop range. Glasshouse candles sit pretty with Becca cosmetics and nail polish by Butter London and sweetly packaged soaps. The store encapsulates a delicious and sensual, Parisienne boudoir, where the staff make you feel at ease and offer decidedly friendly and informed service. If you’re looking for a fragrance that every second woman is not going to be wearing, look to Mariposa; there are plenty of beauty products to make a girl feel like the unique beauty she is.
