This place is good but there’s much better food around. The staff are lovely and efficient and you can’t complain about the food — lots of meat and nicely cooked but the flavours just aren’t amazing. It’s to be expected of any place that doesn’t have a specialty cuisine though and these guys are fine but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

2016: Not only did I come here tonight(again), nothing has changed. Still the same price, excellent food, excellent portion sizes, fresh and healthy options. I love it! The staff also know who I am every time I ring in which is a bonus ! Sep 26, 2014 POSITIVE
Cannot fault. Service needs an upgrade with the new staff. They are slack and insouciant at times, especially the annoying hipster at the counter with the beard. Putting that aside, this place CONSISTENTLY delivers CONSISTENCY. Their food is cheap, fresh, healthy and you get a huge portion for what you pay for. Their food is just superb. — – 16 Oct, 2012 — – One of my favourites. The food is ‘ok’ but it’s VERY well worth the price. It’s just quick and it’s healthy. The two biggest bonuses are PRICE and Portion. Really, you WILL be left feeling full after your meal, and it only costs around the 10 – 13 $ mark here. So cheap! They do a great job, but just be sure to order before you purchase, a couple of times I have had to wait almost 30 minutes when you just walk in, they are constantly busy! This is and always will be a hotspot for me =)

Tasty asian food and ideal if you can’t be bothered cooking but still want something good. There are a variety of asian style dishes that you would expect on the menu… laksa, curries, stir fry etc all with your choice of meat/seafood/tofu and sauces. You can also do a choose-your-own and they do cater for gluten free requirements. It’s pretty popular for take-away(remember to phone up first!) but you can also eat there as there are a handful of tables set up. It’s probably not date night material but these guys are consistent and have a good variety on their menu.

Decided to try this little spot on Walcott St when we had a craving for good Asian food. we weren’t disappointed! We feasted on a Japanese chicken teppanyaki box to start with which consisted of a spring roll, salad, rice and great tasting teppanyaki chicken! This was followed by chicken and prawn pad Thai and special fried rice! I thought the food was very fresh and cooked I guess in a ‘healthy’ way? There was no grease or oily feeling like you usually get when you order Asian! Flavours were good but could’ve been a bit more powerful. some mouthfuls were a bit bland!

Menu selections were good, prices reasonable, food came pretty quickly and efficient. Service was good too. I highly recommend the stir fried ramen noodles & vegetables served with tempura soft shell crab and sweet chill mayo. Would definitely come again to try everything from the menu !

This is a tasty rice and noodle joint which serves up generous portions of fried goodness with shocking speed. I’m a big fan of the number of veggies they put in their dishes. It’s a great option for a quick dinner. That said, after a long time spent in Taiwan and China, I am very picky about the style of rice and noodles I eat, and Goreng Goreng doesn’t really do it for me because it’s a bit too honey-soy and egg noodley for my tastes. I suspect most people, unburdened by my hangups, will like the food here a lot though.

I love this place! Every meal I’ve had there both dine in and takeaway has been fresh, hot and delicious. And it’s free byo. If you are in mt lawley and looking for a cheap quick & easy meal this is your place. Satay tofu & veg is the bomb!

Great place for quick, cheap Asian. The take away servings are generous and include plenty of veges(broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bok choy, etc), making it a guilt-free take away option. I found the Ginger Soy sauce a tad on the bland side but the Asian BBQ sauce was flavoursome and tasty. Definitely recommend if you’re after a quick, easy meal or you have a fussy eater that you need to cater for — the make your own options are diverse enough to suit most tastes

Wanting a cheap Asian meal? Goreng is a great little Asian joint in the heart of mount Lawley. I have gotten take away here a couple of times and loveeeee the food. The tofu satay sit fry and mi goreng are really tasty. It is also really cheap with most meals only being around $ 11. Great place to get take away with friends. The only problem is the place is small with seating for only about 15 – 20 people and they don’t take bookings. I went there with 3 friends and we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes for a table and as we were starving we decided to go elsewhere. So I would recommend either getting take away or being prepared to wait a bit for a table/however you may get lucky and it may not be busy!

Craving cheap Asian can leave you in a heap of trouble here in Perth. First, nothing is cheap(except for a ½ head of cabbage– go figure) and secondly, scouting out«cheap» can result in quality control issues 101. Have no fear, Goreng2 had zero mystery meat that I’ve experienced at other Asian places in the past. I did not dine-in, this was strictly a take-out event. First perk, friendly on the phone. I know what?!? In Perth?!? Yes, I swear! Then, after I placed my order they said it would be ready in 10 minutes. What?!? In Perth?!? Yes!!! So, off to pick-up the order we go with our handy-dandy entertainment guide coupon for $ 15.00 off! So, an inexpensive restaurant just got less expensive! Goreng2 really went all out with their take-out containers. The quality left me questioning if we should even throw them away. The containers were proper bowls with lids on them perfect for passing on leftovers to neighbors. The three dishes I tried were all 4−5-star worthy(cashew chicken, shrimp entrée, nasi goreng). Of the three our favorite was indeed the goreng, and guess what… the egg was perfectly cooked(i.e. runny). Hats off Goreng2, you’ve really impressed me! Bring your coupon with you and Monday night supper just got more affordable!

No longer will i suffer in silence when I hear people complain about there not being any decent, cheap places to eat in Mount Lawley! I have eaten at Goreng2 on several occasions, and have not been disappointed yet. The menu is extensive, simple, fairly priced, and most of all TASTY. If you like Asian cuisine but don’t enjoy the hussle and bussle of Northbridge, love the vibe in Mount Lawley but don’t want to pay the earth, this is the place for you.

LOVEIT! LOVEITLOVEIT!!! :) My husband and I have been going to goreng for over 5 years now and it’s our favourite noodle place! It’s always consistent in it’s flavours, which are GLORIOUS! It’s incredible value for money and the serves are big enough for leftovers the next day. We always order vegetarian spring rolls — YUM! Either Satay Tofu Vege Noodles OR Sweet Chilli Tofu Noodles OR Sweet Chili Tofu w Rice — any of these 3 are amazing! In 5 years that I’ve been going I’ve NEVER been disappointed EXCEPT when their closed on Monday for a holiday break and I can’t get any food! :))) For around $ 25 you can get an entrée and two mains with leftovers the next day! It’s the best noodle place EVER! Don’t look anywhere else! :)

This cheap little gem off Beaufort St gives the Mt Lawley crowd a casual Asian fusion option just around the corner from the Scotto. The thing I love about Goreng is that you can ‘make your own’ noodle or rice dish by choosing the key ingredients(chicken, beef, seafood, vegetarian etc) and adding your fave sauce. So the menu at first appears deceptively simple but there are actually many combinations to try! I always forget that it’s BYO.

Goreng to the power of two… thousand! GorengGoreng is generally my first port of call when I can’t be effed cooking a meal myself… also when I can be bothered; I just want Goreng. The mixed-Asian menu offers an index of rice and noodles-based dishes where you pick and mix the components and sauces. There are also stir-fries, curries, teriyaki dishes as well as your rudimentary Asian starters and sides. The dishes are flavourful, varietal and very affordable. My pick is the wok-fried Tofu and Vegetable with your choice of Oyster or Satay sauce($ 9.90) — YUM! The servings are substantial too, and I often end up with a bit of stir-fry carried over into tomorrow’s lunch. It tastes even better re-heated the next day. There’s some nice seating inside the shop but people mainly get take-away. It gets mighty busy at dinner time, especially on a Friday night, so think ahead, pre-order, and allow an extra few minutes from the time they say to pick-up.

I have truly found the Holy Grail of noodle places. This unassuming gem is just off the main drag in Mount Lawley but you might have missed it. The simple and down to earth interior and exterior doesn’t demand the attention of the throngs of people meandering by throughout the day and well into the night. However, once inside, your taste buds cannot escape the exquisite culinary delights prepared here. The menu is extensive but mirrors the usual noodle and rice fare found in similar noodle houses. The difference is the sheer quality of the food. It’s not too oily, the flavours and delectable and you don’t feel really bad after eating it — excellent! The prices also amazed me. For ten bucks you can get a very generous sized meal that has no comparison to its overly oily and often time more expensive counterparts. The satay vegetables with thick egg noodles is a definite winner. Another bonus, the quiet atmosphere. The kitchen is out the back and it’s nice to just sit in a noodle house without having to compete with an overpowering and constant sizzling and frying noise. The staff were polite and gracious and the place was lovely and clean. In short, I have nothing but top marks for this gorgeous gem. I highly recommend you give it some attention next time you meander through Mount Lawley.

There is no hiding the fact that Perth is one massive melting pot, in fact I often wonder if Australians are outnumbered in this city. A large ingredient in this pot is Asian people, from Uni students to 5th and 6th generation families keeping their traditions alive. Goreng goreng offers a variety of Asian foods in a space that seems more upmarket that similar restaurants in the city. The pride themselves on their fresh ingredients, so fresh that you can make your own noodle dishes. It suits veggies, carnivores like me and vegans. Try the udon laksa, it will take you by the taste-buds to a stall in Kuala Lumpar. They do not take reservations but if you have to wait for a seat then try and find some patience and wait, it will be worth it.
